"Staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was lovely and quiet. When we returned from touring Oxford on foot around 4:30 PM, we were hoping to relax and take a short nap before our evening reservations. Unfortunately, our room had not been cleaned, even though we left a hang tag saying “ clean the room”. It appears they were short on personnel that day, and had fallen way behind; another couple came in around 5 PM to find their room untouched like ours. By that time our room was being cleaned, and we were sitting in the hall on temporary chairs (the hotel has no lounge and only one seat in the tiny lobby). Difficulties do arise, but for £300 a night for a decent but unspectacular hotel room, we expect better."
