10/10 Excellent

"Great hotel in a great location!"

Riad Mazar Fes

10/10 Excellent

"Highly Recommended! A Truly Memorable Stay! We had a wonderful and truly memorable stay at Riad Mazard in Fes! The riad is beautiful, with lovely artistic décor, a delicious breakfast, and an excellent location. But what truly made our stay special was the outstanding hospitality of staff, and friendly and nice owner. The gentleman and lady who took care of us were absolutely amazing—thoughtful, attentive, and hardworking throughout our stay. One day, we had to leave very early for our Sahara Desert trip, so we wouldn’t have time for breakfast. Knowing this, the gentleman kindly prepared and packed breakfast for us to take along. Such a thoughtful gesture truly touched our hearts and made us feel so well cared for. The lady was kind enough to help us arrange a guide, who turned out to be tremendously helpful and made exploring the medina so much easier and more enjoyable. The owner was also very nice and welcoming. The genuine kindness and exceptional service of the entire team made us feel truly at home. Our experience at Riad Mazard made our trip to Fes even more memorable, and we are so grateful for the care and kindness we received."

Riad Taryana

10/10 Excellent

"We stayed here in October. The staff were wonderful and the Riad is conveniently located near the blue gate. The traditional breakfast was 10/10. The WiFi doesn’t work well in the room, we were on the second floor maybe that’s why. We had a tour guide arranged by the Riad, I wouldn’t recommend bc he talked too much about other things and took too long."

Algilà Fes Riad Medina Charme Hotel Spa

10/10 Excellent

"We had a lovely stay at Riad Algila! The staff were phenomenal and so helpful, especially Yusuf and Hassan who treated us and our 1 year old daughter so well. The location was amazing, central near the Medina but the inside was so quiet and peaceful. The bed was comfortable and the AC worked great and breakfast was delicious. We would definitely return to this Riad!"

Riad Fes Maya

10/10 Excellent

"Beautiful Riad across the street from Fes Medina. Amazing architectural features in the room and building including stained glass windows, and exquisite tiling, plaster and cedar. Our room opened onto a generous balcony overlooking a luxurious courtyard which had a great lounge area for reading and meditation. Sama, Hamid and team were very friendly and helpful. The views from the roof terrace are spectacular and the breakfasts served there were delicious. Thank you for a memorable stay."

Fes Marriott Hotel Jnan Palace

10/10 Excellent

"Beautiful resort hotel with several restaurants and bars in the newer part of Fes. Spanish restaurant with an outside patio is a gem. I would suggest to arrange for a ride ahead of time before going to Medina as a street taxi cab maybe hard to find. Golden Tajine restaurant within 7 minutes walk from the hotel turned out to be authentically delicious."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Laqsir?

The best area to stay in Laqsir, Fès, Morocco, is within the Médina, particularly in a traditional riad.

The Médina is the historic heart of Fès, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its labyrinthine alleyways, vibrant souks, and stunning architecture. It's a pedestrian-only area, with donkeys and mules often used for transport. Key landmarks include the Bab Bou Jeloud gate at the western entrance and the Al-Attarine Madrasa, an exquisitely decorated theological college. Staying here offers an authentic experience within ancient city walls.

Couples looking for a romantic and culturally rich getaway will find the Médina ideal. Many riads offer beautifully restored courtyards, rooftop terraces with city views, and intimate dining experiences. You'll be right in the middle of history, with easy access to artisan workshops, traditional Hammams, and local eateries.

For those seeking a more relaxed pace outside the bustling Médina but still close to the action, the Ville Nouvelle (New City) offers a contrasting experience. This area, developed during the French protectorate, features wider avenues, modern shops, and contemporary hotels.

When is the best time to go to Laqsir?

The best time to visit Laqsir, Fès, Morocco, is during the spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) months. These periods offer pleasant weather, avoiding the extreme heat of summer and the cooler, sometimes wet, days of winter.

Spring in Laqsir brings comfortable temperatures, typically ranging from 20°C to 28°C. The days are sunny, and the surrounding landscapes, including the Atlas Mountains, are often at their most verdant. This is an ideal time for outdoor activities like exploring the local souks without feeling overwhelmed by heat or crowds.

Autumn also provides excellent conditions, with temperatures similar to spring, usually between 20°C and 27°C. The air is crisp, and the light is particularly beautiful, making it great for photography and leisurely walks through the old medina. It's also a good time to enjoy alfresco dining in the evenings.
