Fes El Bali

Step into the 9th-century world of Fes El Bali, one of the largest car-free urban areas on earth. This UNESCO site preserves medieval Islamic architecture within honey-colored walls and winding alleys. The Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque anchors this ancient labyrinth, home to the world's oldest continuously operating university. Wander through bustling souks where artisans practice centuries-old crafts in open workshops. Traditional riads offer peaceful courtyard retreats from the sensory-rich marketplace. Mint tea flows freely while the calls to prayer echo across this authentic cultural treasure.

Traditional riads offer peaceful courtyard retreats from the sensory-rich streets where calls to prayer echo off honey-colored walls. No cars enter this pedestrian-only district where daily life continues much as it has for a thousand years.

Dar Tazi

While visiting Dar Tazi, you might make a stop by sights like Sidi Moussa Tannery and Talisman Art Gallery.

Mellah

Step into Fes's historic Mellah, where centuries of Jewish heritage come alive through narrow cobblestone streets and distinctive architecture. The beautifully restored Ibn Danan Synagogue showcases intricate tilework and carved cedar ceilings. White-washed buildings with wrought-iron balconies and Star of David motifs create a unique visual landscape. The ancient Jewish cemetery tells silent stories while local silversmiths continue traditional crafts in bustling jewellery souks. Riad Fès - Relais & Châteaux

10/10 Excellent
"Rooms in the interior garden can get noisy from the reception/lobby area and check in. Construction means banging all day in our room. Hard to figure out lights to turn off when in bed. Every lamp is on and had to get up and turn every light off rather than have one switch for all. Sound carries from the lobby. Spa/go to pool area was disgusting. A jug of lemonade with glasses left for guests was there but ants were all over it and around the table and if you poured some in a glass you also got about 20 ants with it. No one at the spa desk for hours, when we left the pool finally a few girls were there so we told them about it. We went back to the pool 4 hrs later and it was still the same. I was appalled that no one tended to it the whole day. Also I wanted to inquire about the spa maybe take a look inside but no one there to greet or welcome me. Perhaps if no one is there, if they’re busy giving a massage, there should be a phone at the desk saying dial “X” and someone will come down to help with information or reservation. Not easy to change money here so if you don’t have MAD better not count on this place. Staff not very helpful in that area. The smell of this hotel was my favorite as was the food at Gayza and friendly staff on rooftop patio. Pool area needs a bit of a revamp imo"
