"Lovely hotel right in the center of town. Staff were great. Room was quite large. Dinner was very good, but a little pricey. I arrived early and they let me nab a parking spot under the building. Be aware, parking space is tight (speaking as someone living in the US). Bed, bathroom, and general room decor/ambience were of a good quality. Bar / restaurant was popular. And..: I got a good nights sleep."

"The Hotel is a treat for the eyes and a great place to relax in the many rooms. A beautiful bar and a great breakfast kept us satisfied after a day of exploring the area. A super comfortable bed made our stay even better. The golf course looks beautiful and the hiking trails are interesting. Easy to park your car. The staff were helpful and very polite. "Appleby Castle is a special destination, steeped in history that you can experience first hand. Staff care deeply about the castle and we thoroughly enjoyed the piano playing during the meal and the history talk after. Having read some of the other reviews, we can’t say we experienced any of the negatives and thought Peter, Sally (and chef!) did a great job it being just them running the castle."

"Had a lovely stay in this lovely old building. I only dealt with one member of staff, but she was very nice and friendly and made us feel welcome. Breakfast is also very nice. Heating wasn’t working but we were supplied with a portable heater to make the room nice and cozy. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay "

"Breakfast and our evening meal were very good, service pretty quick. Our dog was allowed in all areas if I remember correctly. There was not much parking directly outside and it seemed that visitors for High Force used it so that they didn't have to pay for parking! I believe the receptionist said we could use the paid parking if we gave our Car Reg."
