Find hotels in Lago from £49

The best area to stay in Lago is the historic centre, particularly around the main square, Piazza Roma.

This neighbourhood is the heart of Lago, offering a traditional Italian village experience. It's very walkable, with narrow, winding streets leading to small shops, cafes, and trattorias. The Piazza Roma is a natural gathering spot, often hosting local events and markets. From here, you'll find easy access to the Church of San Giovanni Battista and panoramic views of the surrounding hills.

Couples looking for a romantic and relaxed getaway will find the historic centre ideal. The intimate setting, combined with opportunities for leisurely strolls and enjoying local cuisine, makes for a memorable experience. Many accommodations here are boutique hotels or renovated historic buildings, offering a unique stay.

For travellers who appreciate quiet surroundings and scenic beauty, the outskirts of the historic centre, particularly along Via Roma leading up the hill, offer lovely villas and guesthouses.

The best time to visit Lago is typically from late spring through early autumn, specifically from May to September, when the weather is most agreeable for exploring the Ligurian coast.

May and early June offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and lush landscapes, making it ideal for those who enjoy hiking and outdoor activities without the intense summer heat. You'll find the wildflowers in full bloom, and the sea is warm enough for a refreshing dip. It's a great time for couples seeking a peaceful escape before the peak season.

July and August are the warmest months, superb for beach holidays and swimming. While it's the busiest period, Lago's coastline is beautiful, and there are many opportunities for boat trips and water sports. Families often find these months ideal for making the most of the sun and sea, with plenty of activities available for all ages.

September is another excellent option, as the summer crowds begin to thin, but the weather remains warm and sunny. The sea is still inviting for swimming, and the vineyards are preparing for harvest, offering a different kind of scenic beauty.
