The staff is friendly. It's a beautiful property complete with a zen sand garden in the courtyard area. Plus, it's only one train stop from Kyoto station. This is an excellent place to stay near Kyoto. It's right across from the Toji temple and about 15 min walk from Kyoto station. Kitchen and bathroom had full set of amenities, including a stove top, refrigerator and a washer/dryer. Staff was very friendly and helpful. It is a lovely and small hotel right off of a main street, which makes it very walkable to many types of transportation. The staff was fantastic--extremely friendly, so very helpful, and made the stay that much better! The only reason we gave this place a 4/5 in overall ratings was for 2 reasons: 1\. The breakfast every morning came to us cold. It was always on time and overall a good variety--it just would have been better warm! 2\. The room had an odd scent that appeared to come from the washer/dryer combo. Granted, just having a washer/dryer combo in-room was enough to overlook it.
