Excellent hotel. The room was large with an incredibly comfy bed and good powerful shower. The staff were really helpful and friendly and the breakfast really good. We ate in the restaurant both nights. A special thank you to Ben our waiter. We would highly recommend Bel and the Dragon.

A little off the beaten track but this hotel is of exceptional quality and it a bargain for the price we paid. VERY quiet and comfortable. Superb breakfast too.
We'll definitely return!

Staff were lovely. Had a long drive and arrived on the cutoff for ordering dinner, but thankfully the staff were kind enough to still let us order. We had both dinner and breakfast, both were absolutely delicious. There was some games we could borrow which we enjoyed playing in the bar, only small disadvantage is the bar closed at 10:30. Room was very clean, stocked with tea and coffee and the extra pillows in the wardrobe was a nice addition. Overall, we had a very peaceful, relaxing stay.

A very comfortable last minute stay in this lovely pub. The rooms are very cosy and comfortable, the service outstanding and the food just delicious. The only thing I'd change is the plug and bright green fire escape lighting that illuminates the room too much for a good night's sleep. Overall a very lovely stay.

We used the hotel as a base to visit the Bombay Sapphire gin factory which was very close by.
It was an emotional visit for me as i last saw the hotel as my boarding school in 1968 I also fount my initials carved on a wall I remember this even after 48 years The hotel was fantastic we enjoyed our stay for one night and had a lovely breakfast. The only disappointment was the evening meal We did now want anything grand so chose the bar menu

Lovely pub with rooms. Went for a friends birthday and had a super time. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
I’m coeliac and the choice of gluten free food was very good. The fish and chips were excellent!
Would highly recommend.

Absolutely lovely stay at The Royal oak. Beautifully decorated throughout, with a really warm and homely feel. Staff were welcoming, dinner and breakfast were first-class and my room was spotlessly clean with a great bathroom and comfy bed. Would definitely return, I stayed for work but it would be a lovely place for a weekend away.

Excellent ! We will be back… we were stuck in traffic so ringing ahead, we were able to order food and they kept it warm. My partner, tired from a week in hell at work knocked her wine over..another appeared as if by magic. I had to make an important call … they, without being asked turned music down.wow. The staff are amazing, as are the rooms, bed, bathroom and food..we will be back ! Many thanks guys.

We were looking for an overnight stop travelling back North from Southampton and came across here. There was a big extension being built to the front of the pub so parking was difficult but otherwise caused no inconvenience. We had 3 rooms and all were very comfortable and well equipped . What stood out about this place was the staff, all were genuinely lovely and friendly. Checked in and personally shown to our rooms. We ate at the pub and the food was quickly served and was simply delicious...

From the moment we checked in the whole stay was second to none, normally this is a one or perhaps two night stay but we had about a week there. The staff were so helpful and very courteous on all levels, the room was clean and lovely bath towels provided. We used the fridge and iron and there video choices, even the water provided was a welcome touch. The morning breakfasts were delightful and catered for everyone, staff exceptional even when busy. The Hotel was located amongst beautiful grounds. It was a combination of old and new build and very clean in all public spaces. Staff were extremely welcoming, helpful and knowledgable about the local area. Our room was very spacious and well equipped with fabulous views down to the river and was spotlessly clean too (except for what appeared to be a blood stained bath towel!) Breakfast was most enjoyable and there was plenty of delicious food and drink to choose from.

Its great to find a hotel you can stay for just one night over the weekend. I was looking for somewhere close to London (34 miles away), with great reviews, good food and accommodation and places to visit nearby. The Bel and Dragon had all of that. The room was tastefully furnished (with free sloe gin - added bonus!) and the hotel was cosy and characterful. We enjoyed a drink in the bar and a great dinner (although I noticed the bar food also looked enticing. There is a snug for hotel guests...
