The staff were extremely attentive genuinely wanting to help in every aspect of my stay - I can not recommend this place enough - lovely location and the atmosphere was to me so relaxing and I so enjoyed the food and the views I enjoyed drinks on arrival and what makes this place so special is the lovely staff who honestly want everyone stay to be the best - and try and make sure that everyone does do exactly that 👏👌🙏
The staff was some of the nicest people we met on our vacation in England. They went above and beyond to take care of us.
The food was fabulous, we enjoyed dinner and breakfast. I will defiantly stay here gain,
This is a little gem to find - excellent accomadation and staff along with Quiet surroundings Food id second to none with a wide range for starters and main meal.Rooms are tastefully done with all the usual requirements and fresh milk is from a vacuum flask so its all fresh.
Toilets are spotlessly clean and well laid out along with general condition is very good.Thank you and well done to all.
Lovely typical country pub / hotel. Very friendly welcome, room and bathroom were very clean. Good tea / coffee facilities and homemade biscuits were a bonus. Breakfast was excellent, wish we'd had time to taste lunch or dinner as it smelled fab. Next time we are visiting family nearby we will be back. Thank you
2nd stay at this really pleasant pub with rooms in a pretty village. Food is particularly good - both dinner and interesting breakfast options that go above and beyond the standard fare that is usually on offer.
Room was pleasant - bit quirky - but well furnished. Will definitely stay here again when in the area
Wonderful pub with comfy rooms. Lively atmosphere and delicious dinner. We were walking The Ridgeway and just arrived with our backpacks! Definitely a great stop on the walk.
Room excellent - as expected for the price and area very pretty and historic. Business visit but within walkable distance to Wantage via pathway pleasant countryside. Pub nice - menu mostly outside of our business allowance limitations.
It is charming with good food. If you stay on an attic room you need to be careful when you get out of bed as beams are quite low. The rooms are lovely and well appointed
Friendliness of the staff. Our evening meal and breakfast were of a high standard. Felt we were treated personally rather than just another guest.
Our room had everything we needed. Perhaps my only slight criticism would be that we were overlooked from houses and the gardens so had to have the blind down all of the time.
Great place in racehorse training country. Breakfast and dinner excellent. Room great although ours looked onto pub garden which was raised in places so a bit nervous of privacy-kept blinds drawn. Noisy stairs door made wardrobe and pictures rattle. So go for room at front. Overall though a great place to stay. Staff friendly and welcoming.
We lived in this village a half century ago and this was a typical country pub. Now it is a very up scale "gastro-pub'. The food was superb and very reasonably priced. Ths staff couildn't have been more accomodating. My only criticism would be that the rooms are very compact - not unusual in England. The inn is on the main street of the village - one of the most attractive in England and the pub has created excellent footpath maps of the surrounding countryside.
The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. The food was excellent, delicious and well oresented. Lovely comfy bed and large fluffy towels. Stairs are quite steep.
This is a superb stop in rural South Oxfordshire, and I thoroughly recommend it. The surrounding area is lovely. The pub is well stocked with fine beers, and the food is only a little short of Michelin quality.
