"DO NOT STAY HERE! Absolutely unacceptable experience at Riu Plaza Toronto. I checked into my room only to find a used pair of underwear inside the bed. This is not a small mistake it is a complete failure of basic housekeeping and hygiene standards. There is no excuse for a bed not being properly cleaned and inspected before a guest arrives. To make matters worse, after reporting this extremely disturbing issue, I was only offered $100 in compensation, which is frankly insulting given the severity of the situation. This completely undermined my trust in the cleanliness of the entire room and ruined the start of my stay. Cleanliness is the bare minimum expectation at any hotel. If something this obvious was missed, it raises serious concerns about what else is being overlooked. I would not recommend staying here unless you are willing to risk poor hygiene standards and inadequate customer service when issues arise. If management cannot guarantee something as fundamental as a clean bed, it’s hard to trust anything else about this property. I would strongly caution others before booking here. "

"Stayed for 1 night for Uof T Eng Skule Nite at Hart House Theatre and after event at the Duke of York. Staff was accomodating (early checkin), room clean, nice towels, bed comfortable, heating good, low noise level (at least for my stay, although they provided ear protectors in bathroom). Easy access with proximity access cards. WiFi good for streaming, although it did drop out once for a short period. Short walk to UofT St. George Campus and St. George Subway station. Easy to get around downtown if you get a Presto transit card. I came in on VIA Rail at Union Station, so easy to travel between Union Station and the Madison. Friendly Pub where checkin is located is next door, and serves good breakfast and pub grub (beers on tap, wine liqor, etc.). It's not "fancy", but a a good *** hotel at a reasonable price in a convenient downtown location."
