I found this place 100x better than pompeii (maybe because i'm lazy and there's less walking) but because of the amount that is preserved, it really does give you a feel of what it was like here. This picture was inside of a church ( i think?) and to imagine that this survived a volcanic eruption!? Overall it was a great day out, very educational ( I recommend a tour guide or a headset). (26 reviews) This hotel is comfortable and clean. The reception and breakfast staff were very helpful and friendly. The location is very near the central train station. While our room was spacious and comfortable, the door to an adjoining suite allowed so much noise - we could hear the neighbours as if they were in our room. Additionally, we were given a mini-bar price list, but no actual fridge in the room. They also have a rule of not bringing any food back to your room! The safe also did not work. There was a split of AC/heat, a large closet and desk. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast started at 8am. It consisted of very tasty pastries, yoghurt, and cereal in a nicely decorated room by reception. I would recommend the hotel as a clean, comfortable place to stay but definitely minimalist. And perhaps other rooms are better sound-proofed than ours was... Herculaneum and Vesuvius. Starting at 12.30pm. Due to the coach from Piazza Gariboldi being 30 minutes late then an accident on the autostrada, we didn't get to Herculaneum until after 2pm. We had to be back at the bus stop for the coach to Vesuvius at 2.50pm leaving us with less than the 2 hours anticipated to tour Herculaneum. I suggest getting a much earlier coach in case of mishaps. ### 4/5 - Good Verified traveller Good afternoon trip after a morning on Mt Vesuvius ### 5/5 - Excellent Verified traveller You can whizz around in 90 minutes but it took us a good 4 hours to see absolutely everything - either will give you a great impression of the place. Despite what it says in the guidebooks, there are facilities here and a place to buy drinks & snacks from vending machines. ### 3/5 - Okay Verified traveller Is not as big as Pompeii but still a great plzce to visit. We combined the two, plus missed our train stop which resulted in a mile walk back from next station. So we were tired and it was getting late. ### 5/5 - Excellent Verified traveller A great place, easily accessed from Sorrento or Naples on the circumversuviana line. Very hot and not a lot of shade so take a hat and water.
