Burn Hall Hotel

"We enjoyed our stay and it is good value for money overall. Good stuff : Lovely setting. Friendly reception and bar staff. All items on cooked breakfast were actually hot... from self service! highly unusual but much appreciated & real coffee. Bad stuff : Grumpy unfriendly restaurant staff did not have a smile between them.. They were quite abrupt and unhelpful. The two main courses we wanted had run out! The bottle of Rose wine was overpriced at £29 for 10.5Abv. I had to ask for a wine cooler... the reply was.. Sorry they have all been stolen! I asked for an ice bucket to be told they are only for Champagne! What? Unbelievable. The wine was inpleasant.. Wine was poor for the price. Overall... Room was clean and functional. Setting is lovely.. Female staff were lovely too. Restaurant staff require training! We would stay again and hope for an improvement!"

"Superb hotel in wonderful location handy for local amenities. Did not use spa facilities which looked good. Somewhat confusing concept - hotel had lovely frontage with outdoor seating area but bars etc were closed so not able enjoy snacks, drinks etc at the front. Maybe the available facilities at the front were opened for weddings only. Although a large significant hotel the only facilities available were a small bar/restaurant a good trek away at the rear in the golf area. Outdoor seating with no views surrounded by golf buggy/trolley parking. Food was not impressive. Overall impression was that unless golfers or event guests residents were a nuisance and although claiming to be dog friendly were merely accepting of dogs with uncomfortable coffee table type areas only available for dining. Staff were polite but rarely friendly and rooms were not made up daily. Enjoy your wedding or golf here certainly but otherwise a normal passing business trade venue at its best."

"Very nice stay in a Lovely hotel in very nice location. Very nice staff especially Rachel who helped with our booking, thank you Rachel. We did not eat at the hotel so cannot comment on the food. Very nice room. Great base for exploring North Yorkshire and we visited Ripon, Thirsk and Knaresborough. We will definitely book again 😃"

"Good stay again staff really helpful and welcoming. Room had everything you needed. WiFi could do with an upgrade bit slow and hard to connect. I think the carpark should be free for guests staying at the hotel. Would definitely use again if working in the area"

"Wonderful hotel in an interesting old building full of character and history, however the rooms desperately need air-conditioning installing because our sleep was very poor as the room was very hot, even with the windows open. Appreciate it may not be possible to install proper integrated a/c systems but at least one of those floor standing plug-in units in each room would make a big difference. Something needs doing to account for these modern hotter climates. Otherwise all good and breakfast was excellent."
