Exploring around Principe Station
The railway station is just a few steps from some of Genoa's top sightseeing attractions. Take a short stroll to 17th-century Palazzo Reale, a former royal palace with a grand Rococo interior and a dazzling Hall of Mirrors. Paintings on display at the palace include works by Parodi, Carlone and Van Dyck. For a sit in the shade, walk out into the palace's gardens, which lead down to the old port.
Also nearby is the spruced-up Palazzo del Principe, a sumptuous villa once the home of Admiral Andrea Doria, who welcomed Charles V to the palace in 1533. Festooned with frescoes, paintings and sculptures, the palace’s museum features works by major artists Perin del Vaga, Piola, Cambiaso, Titian and Castello. And wander into the villa's manicured Renaissance garden to see the marble fountain of Neptune by the Carlone brothers.
Discover Porto Antico and the Old Town
The Principe Station is just a short walk from The Bigo Lift, where you'll find many of Genoa's family-friendly attractions, including the Galata Maritime Museum, the aquarium and the Bigo Lift, a panoramic elevator that gives you great views of the city and beyond.
Genoa's aquarium is among the largest of its kind in Europe, with more than 400 species of marine life in 71 tanks: think sharks, dolphins, seals, penguins, manatees, mammals and more. The railway station is also within easy reach of Genoa's historic quarter, a warren of tiny alleyways dotted with pavement cafes and food shops, as well as cathedrals, palaces and exciting places to see during your stay in Genoa.
