Hatfield Lodge

"We were Initially put in the Lodge room 2 opposite the hotel.Bed was awful and squeaky, curtains hanging down, VERY basic, but very clean. We asked if we could move room and they moved us to the hotel room 217, 2 singles put together.So much better as it made a super king! The only down side was once on your floor level, there are still a couple or more small flights of stairs to get to your room. A bit of a struggle with suitcases etc. Room was nice & clean, and tea coffee biscuits, info folder, tissues etc. Pillows were very firm but the young man on reception that evening went and found us a soft one.We used the bar, and the restaurant for an evening meal and for breakfast. Breakfast was a continental choice of fresh pastries yoghurts cereal toast etc, along with a choice of various cooked options for a set price (£15.95?)The terrace overlooking the sea was surprisingly warm and well shielded by a good glass screen. It was a great place to sit with a drink. We had great food all round, really tasty, well presented and good portions. The whole place had a great atmosphere and had really lovely staff. I’d definitely stay there again without hesitation."

"Everything was excellent apart from one issue: payment at check-in. I had my card saved on Google Pay, so when it came to paying for my room, I expected there to be a card reader available. In my experience, 9 times out of 10 hotels have a card machine available for this, and this hotel did have card readers in the bar and restaurant. Unfortunately, the member of staff dealing with my check-in made it very clear that my situation was an inconvenience to her. Rather than offering the option of using a card reader, she made a rather snide comment along the lines of, “How am I supposed to take your payment?” She appeared to expect me to physically provide my card so that she could manually enter the card details into her computer. What made this more frustrating was that on a previous occasion, when staying at the hotel with a colleague, the hotel had simply sent my colleague a payment link, which was a quick and straightforward way of resolving the issue. I appreciate that there may be procedures around taking payment, but the way this was handled was unnecessary and left me feeling uncomfortable. There were clearly other options available, whether using a card reader or simply sending a payment link as had been done previously. It’s a shame, as everything else about the hotel was very good. This interaction unfortunately put a dampener on an otherwise positive experience."

"Just back from a great three day stay. The staff were wonderful (special shout out to Mike who couldn't do enough for us and the lovely ladies in the bar/restaurant) We stayed in one of the coach house rooms with our dog and the whole hotel is very dog friendly (including the breakfast sausage served every morning) Lovely new facilities with great bathrooms and showers. We really enjoyed the food here too (a bit let down by the Sunday roast we've seen so many excellent reviews on, so must have had a unusual experience as it was quite dry, like it had been under a eat lamp for a while) certainly wouldn't put us off coming back again though. We would highly recommend and the staff were some of the best we've come across on our travels. Great location, with only a short drive to some great dog friendly beaches, so with the September sunshine, we got lots of steps in."

"A really lovely stay, a clean and tidy well presented room with a lovely sea view. Wonderful, helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble. The Seaspice and Bistro restaurants are superb with a delicious breakfast. 20/10 thank you. It was so lovely we can’t wait for our next visit."
