"Very pretty cottage. Close to the train station and taxis, and the Pembrokeshire Coastal Foot Path (breath-taking views). An easy walk into Fishguard and restaurants, pubs, grocery store, etc. We give the bed an “8” for comfort, but everything else was perfect or better! The owners left us a bottle of wine and some Welsh cookies, there was plenty of hot water, and the locals were friendly, relaxed and helpful."

When is the most affordable time to visit Fishguard?

During these periods, you'll find lower prices for accommodation and fewer crowds, offering a more tranquil experience.

For solo travellers, visiting outside the peak summer months means better deals on guesthouses and B&Bs, often with a more personal touch from hosts. The weather can still be pleasant enough for coastal walks along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, and many local pubs and cafes remain open, providing a cosy atmosphere to enjoy a meal or a drink without the summer rush. Public transport, while less frequent in some areas, is still operational, and you might even find off-peak discounts on train travel to Fishguard & Goodwick station.

Families might also find these times advantageous, as attractions are less crowded, making for a more relaxed visit. Many of the natural beauty spots, such as the Lower Town harbour or the nearby beaches, are free to explore year-round. Plus, the cooler weather is often ideal for outdoor activities like hiking and exploring the Welsh countryside, which are inherently budget-friendly.

A stroll around the historic Lower Town, with its picturesque harbour, costs nothing and provides a charming glimpse into the area's past.

It's a charming spot for photography and simply enjoying the tranquil atmosphere, with its colourful boats and historic cottages. For a touch of history, visit the Fishguard Tapestry, located in the Town Hall (check opening times, but entry is typically free). This impressive 100-foot-long tapestry commemorates the last invasion of Britain in 1797, offering a unique and educational experience.
