The best thing about this historic property is its location. It's right in the centre of all the action. We walked everywhere, even over to Gatineau to the museum of civ /history. The kids thought it was pretty cool that we were staying in a downtown landmark (the building appears on a 3-d map of the important buildings in ottawa). However, pretty much everything about the building was looking a little tired. Nothing was in disrepair, but it looked dated and in need of a refresh. Our room smelled a little musty, and the tub tap dripped, but it was clean and had everything we needed, like towels, clean fridge, etc. The toilet flushed *really* loudly (the kids said it sounded like an airplane taking off). On our 2nd morning, housekeeping knocked, then tried to bust in at 8 am. Not sure why, as we hadn't checked out yet, and you could still see our final bill tucked under the door. I wish hotels could figure this one out! Pool area was clean and served its purpose, though the pool itself was a little on the cold side. Valet parking was $30 a night, and it took a little longer than they said to bring the car up. Overall, a satisfactory stay at a pretty good hotel. No major complaints.
We stayed at this hotel for 1 night while visiting Ottawa with friends from Australia and family. The location was amazing, easy walking distance to Parliament Hill and the Market District. The hotel was very clean and the room modern and very comfortable.
I came back to Ottawa from a posting abroad and appreciated being able to stay at Les Suites with my partner and parents while we were cleaning my condo and waiting for my furniture to be delivered. Les Suites is conveniently located in the Ottawa Byward Market, walking distance to restaurants and shop. I also really appreciated being able to cook and eat in the suite as well as being able to put a load of laundry while we stayed there. The suite we stayed in was extremely spacious, clean and comfortable and the hotel has free Wifi Internet in the room which is very convenient.
Government buildings dominate downtown Ottawa. Rideau Hall has hosted every Governor General since confederation in 1867. Parliament Hill features the Changing of the Guard ceremony each morning in summer. Shoppers flock to The Glebe, one of the city's oldest suburbs, for a celebrated garage sale each spring. Rideau Canal, the world’s longest skating rink, is popular in winter.
