My husband and I escaped to Ottawa for a three day weekend to experience Winterlude. Warm weather precluded a skating on the Rideau Canal, but we were certainly centrally located if we were able. We had a park view room that overlooked Confederation Park with its weekend activities of ice sculpture competitions, Beavertail stand, outdoor skating rink at the City Hall. It was an easy walk to Byward Market, the Mint, the Parliament Buildings and the War Museum. The Sno Bus stop was just across the road provided a free trip to Gatineau and the snow activities.
Good spot to stay if you need to be downtown or near Parliament. Just ask for a room on the back of the building unless you are ok with street noise. Quite a few motorcycles and trucks use the main strip.
Other than that, probably could use an update or at least sprucing up. Was satisfied although I only stayed one nights.
I chose this hotel as this was close around one of the embassies I had to visit. I arrived early and was able to get checked in with no fuss. Got a coupon for a welcome drink at the lounge and a meal discount as well :) room size was ok as i was by myself. The big thing was the mattress. One of the best I slept in so far. I had a very resrful sleep :)
From check-in to check-out....everything was perfect.
You are greeted by friendly staff...the suites are very clean and well stocked with essentials. Whenever we called the front desk to request something, we were always accommodated.
Beds are super comfy!!
The location is a mere 5 minute walk from the Byward Market, where you'll find anything you need to add to a great stay!
Very good hotel right in the heart of Ottawa and next to a large shopping centre. Staff excellent and couldn't do enough. Facilities great and I liked the fact the gym was open 24 hours. Fast express breakfast was a really useful facility and the food court in the shopping centre served good quality food with lots of variety albeit a lively atmosphere!
Government buildings dominate downtown Ottawa. Rideau Hall has hosted every Governor General since confederation in 1867. Parliament Hill features the Changing of the Guard ceremony each morning in summer. Shoppers flock to The Glebe, one of the city's oldest suburbs, for a celebrated garage sale each spring. Rideau Canal, the world’s longest skating rink, is popular in winter.
