Restaurant needs better management - service was disorganized but food was good.

Most luxurious hotel beautiful location

Posted 29-Jul-2016
Pros: It felt like home
Cons: A lift
Location: Chatsworth House and Gardens were fantastic what a beautiful place. The cable car ride at the Heights of Abraham at Matlock Bath was stunning
Arrived at the hotel at 5pm had help taking the luggage to our beautiful suite which had a four poster bed and two sofas tea and coffee making facilities even a box of shortbread biscuits and a jug of milk in the fridge. The bathroom was huge and had two showers over the bath - heated towel rail and soft towels. The mattress on the bed was so comfortable. It was very clean all the surfaces free of dust and the soft monogrammed carpet soft to walk on. The meals in the Gallery Restaurant were tasty but a limited menu that did not change over the three nights so we ate in the Garden cafe for our last meal with a much wider if more mundane menu - all beautifully cooked and hot. The service from the staff was very attentive.

Great to visit Chatsworth and Haddon Hall. Close to restaurants.

The hotel is lovely and the staff are all really friendly and helpful. The food at dinner was delicious. My only complaint would be that the breakfast, which we realised after was not included in the price, was extortionate and not very good.

We were attending our Granddaughter's christening and the hotel was a very relaxing place to enjoy the whole weekend.

We'd definitely stay there again

This is a beautiful country hotel on the Chatsworth Estate. We stayed for 2 nights and really enjoyed our time there. Everything we needed was provided. Nice staff, excellent breakfast, choice of 2 restaurants. The bed was as comfortable as could be and the room elegant and inviting. I would positively look forward to staying there again.

Beautiful hotel, set right in the heart of peak district. Not much around but thats what you want it for! Large room sizes. Food for Vegetarians was limited, however cute italian restaurant right opposite hotel.

Away Days

Posted 05-Feb-2016 on Hotels
The only comment about the Cavendish hotel are the windows in our room, they rattle and can only be kept quite by inserting a wooden peg in the frame, they also let in a large amount of cold air. The hotel should consider changing these it would improve the quality room and save the hotel a large amount of money in heating cost. Overall we had a most enjoyable stay and would return again in the future.
