Lovely small boutique hotel near the quayside with friendly staff and nicely decorated.
Very busy with a coffee shop and restaurant on lower ground. Being one of the oldest buildings in the town it has low ceilings, steep stair cases, beams and wonky floors!
The bedrooms are spotlessly clean and our bed and pillows were very comfortable. Free WiFi, bottled water, tv, tea & coffee, hair dryer, iron and ironing board and USB plug points besides the bed are included.

This is a great place to stay in Torquay. We were met with a lovely warm welcome from the owners who made us feel very welcome from the start. The room was immaculate and nicely decorated. Breakfast was delicious and the owners couldn't do enough for us and our 1 year old. We will definitely be returning.

The staff were so friendly and went out there way to make you feel comfortable through things such as a free nightcap before bed, lovely breakfast etc
The room was lovely with again free little bits like sweets, was clean and had a tv with a DVD player in ( you could also get DVDs to watch in there little guest room where you could also buy drinks and play games).
It is also just a short walk to the beach, shops and other things such as golf and a leisure Center :) I definitely recommend to...

I was frankly amazed at the quality of Briarfields immediately I walked through the front door. Everything looks freshly decorated, neutral colours, spotless carpeting... My room (No.8) on the top floor looked like it had been decorated yesterday, a small fridge with fresh milk and a bottle of water, comfortable bed, good quality clock/alarm. The bathroom was spotless.

We had a fantastic break, the hosts were perfect, the facilities great and we enjoyed the most amazing food. The breakfast buffet was extensive with a great range of local and home made produce and this was all followed by a mesmerising choice of hot food which included local produce. There was cake on hand all day along with fresh tea and coffee and the hosts couldn't do enough to ensure we had a great stay.

The room was very comfortable, the staff were excellent. We loved the ambience and the food
There was nothing we disliked except the proximity of the village church which insisted on striking every quarter hour day and night. It was an unusually warm night in October so we had the window open so I would advise using earplugs if the window is open.

Had a really lovely 3 day stay in garden room. Room was beautifully furnished, and really clean. Had own entrance that led out on to amazing, very well maintained garden. Owners were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Great location for exploring Dartmouth and surrounding area. Will definitely be back.

Thoroughly enjoyed our 3 nights here. Breakfasts lovely
[ my favourite is the scrambled egg with smoked salmon ]
Suppers also delicious. Good menu selection with Sea Bass & Rump Steak being my choices ( on 2 different occasions - - I should add.! ). Dog friendly - which is important if you want to have your pooches with you which we did. Allocated a downstairs room which is delightful with excellent shower & loo facilities. Would we want to stay here again. You bet !! PRB

The best area to stay in Dartmouth is the town centre, particularly around the waterfront and Foss Street.
This neighbourhood is the heart of Dartmouth, stretching along the River Dart and up into the narrow, winding streets. It's incredibly walkable, with many of its independent shops, galleries, and restaurants concentrated along Foss Street and Lower Street. The iconic Dartmouth Embankment offers lovely views of the river and Kingswear, while the historic Butterwalk provides a glimpse into the town's past.
For couples seeking a refined and convenient base, the town centre is perfect. You'll be within easy strolling distance of boat trips on the Dart, the Dartmouth Castle ferry, and a wide selection of dining options, from casual bistros to more upscale restaurants. Exploring the quaint streets and discovering hidden courtyards becomes part of the experience.
Families will also find the town centre highly practical. Proximity to the river means easy access to boat trips and crabbing, which are always popular with children.
