"Amazing place to stay offering stunning views of the Kathmandu Valley against the backdrop of the snowy peaks of the Himalaya. It’s a true sanctuary with curated gardens, chattering birds, and fragrant flowers. Going up to the helipad you’ll be surrounded by wildflowers and a full 360 panorama with breathtaking sunsets and sunrises. The former accompanied by someone playing traditional flute. Staff go above and beyond and the food is absolutely wonderful. Wish we could have stayed longer."

Hotel Shanker-Palatial Heritage Kathmandu

10/10 Excellent

"All round excellence at this hotel"

Nepali Heritage Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Stayed 15 days and enjoyed the off street peaceful location. The staff was exceptional in so many ways, directions, sightseeing, travel advice, you name it. The restaurant was a quiet oasis from the city street noise. Good food in an outdoor setting. Overall, excellent staff and a great value and great location. Very highly recommend !!!"

Hotel Yak & Yeti

10/10 Excellent

"Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Two staff members (a young woman-who seemed to be a manager at the reception desk and one of the omelette chefs) are great. The young manager remembered me from a previous stay and asked germane questions as to how things were going. The chef remembered me from brief interactions during breakfast and prepare my omelette without asking any questions."

Central Courtyard - Heritage Hötel & Artisan Café

10/10 Excellent

"Great location, very kind staff who work hard to create a charming unique hotel in busy Thamel area. Courtyard is lovely. Breakfast options are delicious. Staff are very helpful and patient. Like the suggestions for walks, restaurants, etc that hotel sent out as well. Highly recommend"

Holiday Inn Express Kathmandu Naxal by IHG

10/10 Excellent

"I had an excellent stay at Holiday Inn Express Kathmandu. The staff was outstanding and very attentive. I appreciated the small gestures and their going the extra effort to accommodate and assist. I loved that the hotel is not in a busy area with good restaurants nearby. I would just walk to the places I visited like Thamel and take tour or taxi the rest of the time. My only complaint which may not be the fault of the hotel is the taxi service pick-up from the airport. It was smooth and professional but I found it very expensive relative to everything else in Kathmandu especially considering how close the airport was to the hotel. Maybe the hotel can adjust the rate or negotiate a lower, more realistic amount."

Aarya Hotel and Spa - Eternal Heritage

10/10 Excellent

"Gotta be straight with ya . . Perfect location . . smack in the middle of everything. The best deep tissue 90 minute massage in Nepal. , . I had it 2 two times with Ms.Pramila at their in house spa. Was exceptional in all aspects . . Professional. Positive. Outgoing. Perfect English. Natural talent in making clients feel welcome and special. I will be back . . Thank you to a strong team of people . . Housekeeping, Front Desk, Restaurant, Spa."

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to go to Dakshinkali?

The best time to visit Dakshinkali is during the dry season, from October to March, for comfortable weather and clear skies.

During these months, the temperatures are mild, typically ranging from 15°C to 25°C, making it ideal for exploring the temple complex and the surrounding natural areas. The air is generally crisp and clear after the monsoon, offering excellent visibility for scenic views of the hills. This period also coincides with several important local festivals, providing a deeper insight into the local culture.

For those looking to combine their visit with trekking or outdoor activities in the Bagmati region, October and November are particularly good. The trails are dry, and the lush greenery from the monsoon is still present, creating picturesque landscapes. This timing is especially suitable for couples or solo travellers who appreciate comfortable conditions for exploration and photography.

While the monsoon season (June to September) brings lush landscapes, it also means heavy rainfall, which can make travel and outdoor activities less convenient. Similarly, April and May can be quite hot and dusty.
