Very atmospheric building, lovingly restored. Sure, it has low ceilings in the old part but you know that when you book it. Really helpful, friendly staff and mighty fine breakfast. I am so very happy I picked this place. Wonderful historic place with a wing added that is more modern but in keeping with the original architecture, the room I booked was in the new section so the ceilings are high and the windows face over the courtyard to the original part of the hotel. The courtyard is delightful, providing a calm sanctuary from the bustling neighborhood around and we met the owner there one evening as he lit his offering - the original family live in a part of the old house. The bed was fantastically comfortable the bathroom super clean and fresh, the staff happily lugged my suitcase up and down from my room. I think it has something like \~ 14 of the 'Superior' rooms in the new section, so it's not a big place which means it is intimate and the desk and kitchen staff know who you are the minute you arrive - totally charming, Newa Chen will now be my go to preferred guest house in Kathmandu any time I'm here..
