"We were disappointed that the pictures advertising the Walton Hall Hotel & Spa were quite deceptive. The actual hotel is not at all connected to the historic Walton Hall, and the hotel wing and room that we experienced were very worn and in need of a renovation. The pool and fitness room were listed on Expedia as amenities, but these facilities are not owned by the hotel and require payment for use (after registering our complaint, we were given free passes). On the plus side, the beds were comfortable and the wifi worked."

"The hotel is being renovated in areas and what is done is very nice. The only complaint I have are the pillows, they are so hard and not comfortable to sleep on."

"Excellent location with just a short walk into city centre beside the beautiful river. The hotel was undergoing some major maintenance work, however, it was clean and comfortable with excellent room facilities. All staff members were friendly and helpful. Great breakfast with plenty of choices. Would definitely stay again, however we would avoid the pub attached to the hotel called ‘The Bear’ which was very run down (ripped seats, broken chairs) and served the worst food we have ever eaten in a restaurant!"

"Have stayed here before a couple of times when visiting family. This visit was nothing like as good as previous times. Positive - breakfast was good, good quality shower. Negatives - £5.50 to park(up from £5 3 months ago), bed uncomfortable, bathroom sink wouldn't hold water. My wife is lactose and soya intolerant. She brings her own milk which the hotel has always stored in their fridge. Point blank refusal this time - health and safety rules had changed- manager and duty manager were both there when we were told and said nothing so we assume they agreed. If you can't compromise for a food intolerance then have more dairy free alternatives at breakfast and not just soya"
