"WHAT A FIND!!!! A real gem After being let down with our original booking, we found the Black Lion Hotel. It's set in a small, quiet village near the river. We had a superb evening meal, the pub was busy in both the bar and restaurant area all evening, which is always a good sign.... the food was superb, service was excellent The room we stayed in was quiet, clean, the bathroom was a good size, the bed was comfy. The breakfast in the morning was superb quality made from local produce. One of the owners Rachel, sat and chatted with us after breakfast about the local area and the pub itself, which was really nice as she were preparing for a very busy Father's Day carvery afternoon and evening Its definitely a place we will return too stay and also to eat... I would recommend highly to anyone "

"Stayed in one of the lodge rooms after doing the Welsh Three peaks. Being able to park right outside the room was a really helpful. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the half price access to health spa was a real bonus. Will be staying again"

"Hotel really nice, staff extremely helpful and friendly. Only a couple of things thst could be changed....tea spoons instead of wooden stirrers, biscuits in room, dog bed and bowl would be a nice touch too when u are staying with your pooch."

"I am a wildlife photographer and was looking for a hotel in North Wales which had the potential for some nice photos on its doorstep and it was just what I was looking for! The grounds were beautiful. Not only that, there are plenty of quiet spaces around inside near the bar area so I was able to have a peaceful drink while I edited my photos. The staff were all friendly and helpful and we were shown to our room on arrival. We had a classic double room which was a bit too small for our liking with a small window too which meant that the room got very warm in the night. We would upgrade to a bigger room next time, just something to bear in mind for those considering staying in summer. "
