"Stayed here on a visit to Wigtown in late August 2026. Communication was great with multiple emails confirming reservation and instructions. Although there are no staff of duty the instructions on how to get the key were timely and detailed and we had no problems at all getting in and checking out, and we arrived late. "It is an old hotel but spotlessly clean, super thick towels, we had a lovely big room and the owners and staff are brilliant. The food was amazing and plenty parking space. Enjoyed a 3 night stay."

"Didn't have breakfast as it was £15 so we had yoghurts in the room. Was disappointed that the gym was £10 per person and this was not mentioned at the time of booking. Given that this was the reason I booked the hotel, I was a bit annoyed. Probably won't be back. Food was good and staff were lovely."

"When we arrived at the hotel it didn't look anything special from the outside. On entering into the small reception we received a very warm welcome and given some local information. We were directed to our room which was very spacious, clean and a nice outlook . The bed was very comfortable although I found the room warm but my husband slept right through the night, which is unusual for him. We opted to have dinner in the hotel and although a bit pricy we were very happy with what we ordered. A very pleasant stay and I would definitely return"

"What a fantastic hotel! We were greeted by a lovely gentleman who showed us to reception. We had a nice clean room with a very comfortable bed . We had a lovely evening dinner served by friendly knowledgeable staff . Breakfast also was excellent If we are back in the area we will definitely stay again . Right next to the racecourse too."

"The room (and possibly the entire hotel) looked to have been renovated recently? No air conditioning in the room and so it was a bit uncomfortable during the night. We only realised there was an electric fan at the back of the cupboard as we were leaving 🙄. The staff were nice and the parking was plentiful. Well located at the Ayr end of the high street and not too far from the beach. The breakfast was very tasty and they offered a good range. Overall we were very happy with our stay."

"I don’t think the Imperial Hotel has had a makeover since the demise of Empire, but - the room was clean, the bed comfy, the staff were lovely, and we had a cooked breakfast - all for £75. Excellent value for a one-night stopover."
