The best area to stay in Cassanesi is the historic Old Town, known locally as "Centro Storico," and the immediately surrounding areas for convenient access to the town's main attractions and waterfront. The Centro Storico is the heart of Cassanesi, a delightful maze of narrow, cobbled streets and colourful buildings. It's largely pedestrianised, making it a joy to explore on foot. You'll find a good selection of traditional trattorias, artisan shops, and charming cafes tucked away in its alleys. The main square, Piazza del Duomo, is a central landmark, dominated by the impressive Cassanesi Cathedral.Couples often find the Centro Storico particularly appealing. Its romantic atmosphere, with candlelit dinners in hidden courtyards and evening strolls along the waterfront promenade (Lungomare), creates a memorable experience. Many boutique hotels here offer rooms with balconies overlooking the sea or the bustling piazza. For those travelling with family, staying just outside the immediate Centro Storico, perhaps closer to the public gardens or the less steep streets leading down to the main beach, can be a good option. These areas offer a bit more space and easier access for pushchairs, while still being a very short walk from all the Old Town's amenities.

The best time to go to Cassanesi is during the shoulder seasons of May, early June, September, and early October. These months offer pleasant weather, with warm but not excessively hot temperatures, making it ideal for exploring the Ligurian coastline and enjoying outdoor activities. You'll find fewer crowds compared to the peak summer months, allowing for a more relaxed and authentic experience. The sea is also warm enough for swimming during these times. For those looking for a quiet escape, particularly couples, May and September are perfect. The vineyards are lush, and the coastal paths are less congested, offering plenty of opportunities for scenic walks and enjoying the local cuisine without the summer rush.
