Macdonald Crutherland House and Spa

10/10 Excellent

"The staff were very helpful and friendly. We were upgraded to a larger room on arrival, it was clean, spacious and had all the usual amenities including a coffee machine, a bonus. The food menu in the restaurant was very good, the drinks menu in the cocktail bar was good and had comparable pricing. The spa and pool areas were clean with plenty of sunbeds. The hotel is in it's own grounds with loads of parking and EV charging available. It is relatively close to local amenities including a lovely country park for walking or entertaining the children. The breakfast was buffet style quite busy but everything was available and the staff coverage was good."

"Great hotel near Edinburgh! The water of the pool was pretty hot. Our bathroom was pretty nice too. Near the hotel (10min by car) there is a great grec restaurant dont miss out!"

"We stayed in a double room with a pull out sofa, both beds including the pull out sofa were very comfortable. No complaints about the shower either. The hotel and room were extremely clean. Everything was spotless and really well maintained. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful with any requests we had (one of which was that there was no sheets on the pull out, and the young lady behind the desk went up right away to put this on for us) Breakfast- free! Who can complain. It is set out buffet style, and there is a great selection of hot and cold, with juice, teas coffees etc. Now for all of this,the price was phenomenal, I’m not sure did we get a good last minute deal but either way, no complains about this hotel whatsoever. Easy parking also, the hotel sends you a what three words location which was very convenient, just state your registration at the desk to avoid parking charges, but they will also explain this to you at the desk. It was just what we were looking for, for a one night last minute stay. And there are shops just round the corner for convenience. Would go back again, thanks!"

"We arrived during the afternoon and checked in. We asked kg there was a chance we could keep the room until 12noon ascwe had travelled up to do a parkrun at Drumpellier Country Park. Reception staff were very obliging. We were allocated Room 212 om the 2nd floor which had everythinhvwe needed. Having had a wander around Coatbridge we reyurned to the hotel to see if there was a chance of a table in the restaurant. We had fabulous meals and deserts and would not hesitate in recommending the hotel or the restaurant to others"

Livingston Lodge Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Stayed at n one of the ground floor rooms and although bedroom was comfortable with super comfortable beds and a desk and chair, the bathroom was somewhat dated. Clearly set up as a disabled room and the washbasin far too low for able bodied person. Shower cubicle was small with a black shower curtain, also very dated. Rest of hotel was fine and food very good value for money."

"Very cosy hotel. Wee bit dated although the bedroom was really nice and spacious. Meal was nice. Table very sticky which meant the cutlery and menus were actually stuck to it. Needs new tables. Breakfast was very good. We were attending a wedding so could have done with a full length mirror in the room. There’s plenty space for one. Very comfortable bed. Staff were great. Would have no qualms about staying here again. Thank you"
