The Accommodation is just out of Town but only a short walk into Tenby. It’s very quiet and Gardens are well looked after, clean rooms and just a very pleasant place to be.
Ample Car Parking which is a bit of a premium in such a small town.
We were early checking in but this was no problem and staff showed the room.
We as a couple had a very relaxed stay and fully recommend this as a great place to stay regardless if you are looking for a base to explore Wales or just for a short break...

We had a tidy, clean smelling, big enough room for a couple and a beautiful bathroom. Our stay was so calming as we didn’t have to worry about a thing as staff were so nice and welcoming. The breakfast was yummy and couldn’t get enough of it. Would recommend this place! It’s close to local amenities, and takeaways are near too if you don’t know what or where to eat.

Stayed for two nights and I wouldn’t go to any other hotel if I’m down that way again! Staff are friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. Food was brilliant with a good range for vegetarians (not that I had any vegetarian option) and the breakfast certainly filled a hole in the morning.

Fab stay at this dog friendly hotel. We stayed in a snug double but there was enough room for us and our spaniel. Couldn’t fault the location just a few minutes walk from the beach & coastal path. Lovely cosy restaurant for dinner which was reasonably priced with great food & service. Breakfast was excellent too!

We really enjoyed our stay. The local town of Narberth is very quaint with plenty of places to eat and unique shopping. Tenby is close by and we used it as a base for a visit to Skomer Island. It seems there are load of local attractions although we only stayed for a few days so didn't get a chance to appraise these. The staff at Canaston are wonderful and the service was excellent.

The food was amazing. The grounds are lovely and the staff are warm and welcoming. The accomodation was fantastic,l. We had the Sorrel junior suite which is ideal for a couple with a dog. Private garden and lounge area and bedroom area mean sleeping without the dog in the same room is a nice treat

We were keen to check in early so that we could get out on to the Ironman course to support friends of ours.
The owner went above and beyond to accommodate us 2 hours earlier than usual, for which we were very grateful.

It is always lovely when I stay here! I find it very hard nowadays to find a clean hotel but Slebech is always clean and comfortable and I never have any problems. Breakfast was also lovely and the staff are very accommodating!

The best area to stay in Carew Newton is directly around Carew Castle and the tidal mill.
This area offers a peaceful setting with direct access to the main historical attractions. The castle itself is a magnificent ruin, and the adjacent tidal mill is one of only five in the UK still in working order. The surrounding countryside is open and green, great for leisurely strolls.
Couples often find this area ideal for a quiet and romantic escape. You're within walking distance of the castle and mill, offering a relaxed pace of exploration without needing to drive. The local pub, a short walk from the castle, provides a convenient spot for an evening meal.
For families, staying near the castle grounds provides plenty of open space for children to explore. The castle often hosts events and activities during school holidays, making it an engaging base.
When is the best time to go to Carew Newton?
The best time to visit Carew Newton is during the late spring, from May to June, and early autumn, from September to October. These months offer the most pleasant weather for exploring the area's attractions without the peak summer crowds.
During late spring, the Pembrokeshire countryside is particularly beautiful, with wildflowers in bloom and milder temperatures great for walking or cycling along the coastal paths. You'll find that popular spots like Carew Castle and Tidal Mill are less busy, allowing for a more relaxed visit. This period is ideal for couples seeking a peaceful getaway and outdoor activities.
Early autumn also provides comfortable weather for sightseeing, with the added benefit of fewer tourists once the school holidays are over. The sea temperatures are still agreeable for those who enjoy coastal walks or even a dip, and the local pubs and restaurants are generally easier to get into.
