"The property was of a basic nature and very tired in places. The bathroom paint was peeling off the walls. The bed was a small queen bed that wasn't big enough for 2 adults to get a good night sleep. The mattress was very thin and uncomfortable. Due to this we left the property early and had to book a hotel. I also tried to contact the property as advised by Sykes cottages, but my calls were unanswered and not returned. Overall a disappointing stay. There are plenty of better rentals available."

"Off the main road which was good. We thought it was a nice, pleasant place to stay within a short drive of Chester. I would recommend this place to friends visiting the area. We were just a couple that stayed for a week whilst building work was completed on our house and found it competitively priced so if you are a group of 4 then it would represent even better value. "Lovely Hotel with very helpful staff. Unfortunately we had a night of no sleep. I informed the hotel that I was celebrating my Mother's 80th Birthday. I paid for a deluxe quadruple room for myself my Mother and my Daughter. The room was pleasant but smaller than images on the website and I feel overpriced for the size of room.Also we were kept awake by wedding guests right outside our window making lots of noise and swearing until the early hours! The hotel jnow my mum was celebratin her 80th Birthday and still put is in a room backing onto the car park and Grosvenor suite were roudy wedding gusts were outside arguing amd swearing and being very noisy. I informed the staff the next morning and they said sorry. The staff were lovely but didn't seem to be any managers around to escalate any issues. Lively hotel but very disappointed in the amount i paid for smaller room with Unfortunately no sleep due to other guests."

"The whole hotel could do with a massive refurbishment, however, then the prices would go up, so it's cheap n cheerful. The staff were superb; no issue was any trouble. I had a problem with the door lock (couldn't swipe in), they sent a maintenance man out and he sorted it quickly. I also pointed out a few other issues with the room, which he assured me would be rectified upon my departure. We ate in the bar area, good service, friendly staff again. Can't fault the friendliness of the place. Food was tasty and well presented. The room itself was tired, and the bathroom did need a real deep clean, mould in places. But the beds were comfortable and smelt clean. A few stains on the carpet and walls in places - but I'm just being picky. We didn't have breakfast on the last stay, but previously, it's been edible and hot. Bonus, free parking and plenty of it. I will be staying here every time I come to Chester as it's near my daughter and grandchildren."

"We stayed one night for a nearby wedding, and were impressed by the hotel. Friendly and professional staff, from reception to restaurant. Bath rather small, even for a 165cm chap like me, but everything else about the room excellent. Breakfast set us up perfectly for the day, too."

"“Restaurant” is listed but that is a bald face lie. Sure, they serve a continentsl breakfast (for an additional charge) of cereal, make it yourself toast and yogurt, but the only thing that makes it a restaurant is the sign on the door. It’s like a Live, Laugh, Love, Lie about a restaurant. The nearest pub does not serve food, and then next 2 we stopped at stopped serving early. The gorgeous wooden stairs are crazy loud, so if you are in a room close to them, each time someone goes up and down, you will know and most likely wake up. The pretty sitting room in the photos was off limits anf had chains on the door. This place is perfection in the pictures, but like an abadoned movie set in real life. I would recommend you avoid it. "
