"Our room had a few issues when we arrived. It was cold, the water didn't drain away very well and the tv handset couldn't adjust the volume on the set, which was too high. Within 15 mins of reporting these issues, they had replaced the handset, cleared the sink and brought up a small radiator (and explained how the thermostat worked) The room was was clean and comfortable and the included breakfast was good with plenty of options. Would definitely stay there again"

"very helpful staff and nice surroundings throughout the hotel, maybe to just sit or have a drink/snack - with nice restaurant/ cafes also to hand to offer a wide selection to guests. Highly recommend!"

"Clean and tidy hotel and the lady behind the bar on the Saturday night was great. Breakfast was really nice and the room was ok. Shower could do with an upgrade to maybe a lager shower head but it was fine. As its city centre it was quite noisy at the front especially as the hotel is surrounded by noisy bars that are open till late. Lucky for us we were in one of the bars until 1:30 so not to bad but this could be an issue for others."

"We managed to get a parking space in the square outside the hotel which is not always easy. There is a nearby underground car park that serves the Lees cliff theatre that can also be used but we have not needed to yet. The 20% early dining offer at the hotel's MPW restaurant makes for a good value dinner bed and breakfast mini break."

"Staff and management very friendly and helpful. Accommodation was very comfortable with a good range of tea/coffee/biscuit selection. Happy Hour with complimentary cheese & biscuits and lots of lounge seating was great. The only issue was that the parking was expensive."

"Great location for Channel Tunnel. Near to Tesco Superstore, pubs etc. Good menu to order from bar. Can't fault breakfast or cleanliness."

"Beautiful hotel in a stunning location. Stayed in the mews which was a five minute walk from the main hotel. Spa was okay, but small. Plus there was an aqua aerobics class going on in the pool blasting Wham. Not very relaxing. Food and drink were as you'd expect from such a location. Recommended"

"Great location and amazing staff, especially Matthew who was so helpful and accommodating for my entire stay. Nice room with amazing view, spacious and clean. Breakfast and food in general was very nice. Noisy music from neighbouring establishments until 4am on Friday and Saturday, suggest ear plugs! Overall very happy to stay there again. Many thanks Royal Oak!"
