"We stayed at Driftwood for two nights and had a very pleasant experience. The accommodation was comfortable, and the overall stay was enjoyable. The host was extremely friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help with anything we needed. The breakfast was also very good and provided a great start to each day. "Awesome hotel with lively pub on the ground floor."

"Excellent few days stay at the Heights Hotel. We experienced a couple of minor “problems” We were told the Bar served bar meals we were not told that because the hotel had a coach party in we would not be able to order our dinner until the coach party were all served and it would be up to an hour and a half before we could hope to be served. Our other “problem” was that the toilet in our room did not flush properly thus leaving loads of toilet paper in the pan. Not nice !! We could not fault the staff, they were friendly and very accommodating for every thing we requested. Unfortunately as the hotel is situated on one of the highest points in Portland the views were obscured by very low cloud every day we were there. We did several journeys away from the hotel and found much better weather and views. We also really liked the robot waiter in the Coffee shop, a really novel idea."

"Wow!!! Upon arrival our hearts sank. As you look at the building the right side looked dilapidated - curtains across windows at an angle and an air of disrepair. We almost drove back out. However once you enter the double doors it’s like another world. Great reception area, clean and bright with two friendly receptionists ready to book in guests. The rooms were bright and immaculately clean, with air conditioning, table and 2 chairs and a 6’0 bed. The bathroom was large and beautifully designed with lovely complimentary toiletries. The shower was a power shower with no heating issues. Great little drinks tray on the vanity, various teas and coffees and two hot choc sachets as well as two bottles of still water. If I had to be picky I’d say the TV could be bigger and a plug socket by the bed would be great but as a work trip staying one night it wasn’t an issue. Overall ignore the facade and enjoy the hotel on the inside! "

"Although I never saw any staff, the place is clearly very well run. I had everything I need except possibly some water in the room. The location is ideal for people travelling by train as its close to the station and a stones throw from the seafront. The shared bathroom and toilets were very clean which was a relief. If I could change one thing, I would make the room doors close a bit more softly. The constant banging of doors was irritating but can’t fault it otherwise."

"Every staff member I interacted with were helpful & lovely. Especially at check-in. The hotel is well looked after, I could smell paint so that was a good sign! Great location, easy to walk the esplanade or you can hop on a bus for a few stops. The room was great, very clean, nicely decorated, good blackout curtains, and very big comfortable bed. The breakfast buffet was great, plenty of staff to help & keep it maintained. I would recommend & would stay again."

"We really loved our stay at The Bull. I’ve been to many Fuller’s pubs in the past but never stayed in one of their hotels and after this great experience I will seek out other sites they run. The Bull was a character filled old building, renovated to a beautiful standard - impeccably clean, absolutely loved the décor too. Breakfast was really big and also full of quality ingredients. Great quality sheets and I love Bramley bath products. Staff very friendly. We stayed in the suite which was HUGE and really comfy, great value for such a nice property. Oh also they gave us a free drink at the pub downstairs since we were staying over, really nice touch! And free parking always helps. Hope to return sometime."

"What a great guest house to stay in, was greeted with a big warm welcome from Hyacinth the owner, friendly and went over and above to make our stay very memorable. Location was brilliant and a fab view of the beach. Bed was so comfortable and spotless, had a bathroom with shower and a bathtub. Full English Breakfast was exceptional. It’s definitely 5star."
