"Helen and Alex, the owners, have literally thought of everything a guest might need...and made it available most generously. The location in the old part of the town happens to be perfect. To greet us there was a hamper with the basics tea, coffee etc but also all the ingredients for a full English breakfast. The bathroom was very well stocked, the bedrooms very comfortable, there is a little library of books, all you need for a barbeque and even 2 bicycles offered. We just kept finding things...

It is clearly a period property with low ceilings in most rooms, narrow stairs and a beam in the floor of the main bedroom. All of this adds to its charm but would be unsuitable for anyone with mobility difficulties. However the lodge is damp and the heating is wholly inadequate, the macerator in the shower room had leaked under the laminate floor and was still leaking on my arrival.The property was a health hazard. "Simply needed a hotel that had 24/7 check in and this was the only one. But luckily the hotel was fully booked on arrival at 0100 so got upgraded for free to a suite which was a lovely bonus! Didn’t get to stay long enough to say much more as had onward transport the next day. "
