"The food was very good and plentiful. Breakfast was filling and delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful. Only thing we would say, is that the room and bathroom needs a little bit of TLC. Other than that, the room was spacious and well equipped. The bathroom too was large with thoughtful extras in place. Unlike most hotels, the Balmoral did not just have a couple of sachets tea, coffee, milk and biscuits, they had lovely tubs of them, plus a jug of milk in the fridge!! Top marks for that. "

"Enjoyable three night break. Friendly helpful staff. Very comfortable bed , room cleaned every day and were allowed to park at the hotel next door. As previously mentioned they serve a great breakfast . Five minute drive to town centre but pub and takeaway nearby. Will book again next time that we visit Dumfries."

"Lovely old hotel with lots of character, extremely peaceful & with beautiful views. Staff great, friendly & knowledgeable. Tasty & plentiful breakfast cooked to order. Nice evening meal on the Friday night. Booked a double room but we were upgraded to a gorgeous suite without our knowledge which was a fantastic surprise! Lovely Easter break & would definitely stay again."
