"Modern, New Hotel, Great Location Outside City Ctr"
A pretty cool, modern hotel, which is what I wanted. Across the street from one of the entrances to the Saldanha Metro, so the location is perfect. I actually took a long walk from the hotel to the historic center of Lisbon on the day I arrived, as I was in a mood for a long hike and to explore. Otherwise, take the Metro into the city center.
One thing that I did not like was the person working the front desk, Tiago M. When I arrived, he did not bother to even acknowledge me. Didn’t look up from what he was doing, or say anything, despite the fact that I was at the check-in desk and standing in front of him! It really set a bad impression. Later, I had to ask him to actually see if a room was ready, to allow me to check in early. It seemed like such a chore for him to check with housekeeping to see if a room was available. Basically, he gave off the vibe that he wasn’t to be bothered. The following day, I had a conversation with another person working the check-in desk, and she was very professional and welcoming.
As for the hotel room, the one I got was small. There are no walls separating the sleeping area from the bathroom, just a sheer drape that you can draw if you wanted to. The toilet was in a “pod” and the shower was in another “pod.” If you’re sharing a room with someone else, make sure you’ve got no issues with privacy. Otherwise, the room was fine for a single traveler.
