"Excellent value for the money"
I found the hotel to be clean, quiet and in a convenient location. The staff were uniformly pleasant and helpful, the room scrupulously clean and the bed comfortable. The room was a bit dark, with an outlook of roof and wall, but since I was mostly there just to sleep that didn't matter, and the fact that it wasn't on the street probably made it quieter. The small fridge was convenient. The breakfast was fine, considering that it was free (cereal, toast, muffins, juice, milk, coffee) and the coffee provided in the room with the coffeemaker was quite good--better than I expected. The complimentary newspapers at breakfast were a nice touch. I could have done without the TV in the breakfast room, but I suppose lots of people like that sort of thing, and it wasn't on very loud, so if you sat with your back to it you could ignore it. I wish the breakfast hadn't relied so entirely on disposable dishes and utensils, including styrofoam. I realize it's cheaper that way, and certainly lots of hotels and food service outlets do just the same, but I still don't like it. Some people might think Jarvis St. looks a bit grotty, with the various missions to street people there, etc., but I walked back from the Market area late at night three times and had no problems.
