I was in Steamboat Springs for a weekend conference at the Steamboat Sheraton. The Sheraton was booked solid for the weekend, so I searched nearby hotels and found the Ptarmigan Inn. It had received good ratings, was less than half a mile from my destination, and appeared to be clean and a great value. My stay was effortless, though I underestimated the tax rate in this resort town (that was my issue, not the hotel's). Lodgings were clean, price was right, stay was great.
Here's the EXTRA GREATNESS: I lost my watch somewhere while on this trip. It was a gift, and I was crushed when I realized it was missing. I called the Ptarmigan Inn and left a message for housekeeping, just in case, then tried to just accept that the watch was probably gone forever. A few weeks later I received a call from the hotel, letting me know that they had found my watch BEHIND THE DRESSER!! WHOA!! They were able to send that watch to me - I happily paid for postage. This was an above-and-beyond effort, as far as I am concerned, and secured my loyalty for any future stays in Steamboat. AWESOME.
The front desk and security staff who worked during my stay were the nicest, most accommodating people I have ever met during my travels. They were so helpful and friendly. I cannot thank them enough for everything they helped me with during my stay.
Check-in was easy and friendly but brief. Could have used more details, such as the underground parking, which we did not find until the 3rd day. 1-bedroom condo has it all but is long and narrow; murphy bed creates an awkward open space when up but demands the table be across from the kitchen counter when down, creating a narrow bottleneck. Never did figure out if fireplace worked. Washer/dryer was nice surprise. Large covered porch with mountain view -- nice! Hot tubs are nice and not overly crowded despite huge property. Overall seems well maintained. I hope the old CRT TV is planned for replacement; AV port is sketchy, making DVD connection challenging. For our purposes, it was more than we needed.
Steamboat is always so beautiful! You can never go wrong there. We enjoyed Strawberry Park (1st timers), a river festival, Steamboat and Pearl lakes, great food, shopping and relaxation. My favorite place in the world!

I was lucky enough to bring my family on my most recent business trip and of course we stayed in a different hotel every night. When we got to the Steamboat Hotel we were greeted by the nicest staff who helped us out with everything from fresh towels to info on local attractions. In the morning we got to the pool a bit early and the gentleman that was getting that area ready let us in and was extremely friendly. I can't say enough great things about the staff, service and even the room we stayed in. I will definitely be staying there again when I come to Steamboat Springs.
The Bristol Hotel is a beautiful heritage hotel that is very comfortable, tasteful and excellent value. Location is second to none, right in the middle of downtown Steamboat. I can not speak highly enough of the staff who were extremely friendly and helpful. I had an injury and they went out of their way to make my stay comfortable and easy. I highly recommend the Hotel Bristol for anyone visiting Steamboat.

We stayed in the fall, so can't tell you how fast it is to get to the slopes but it looked very close. Staff was super friendly, rooms were clean. The only thing I would change is the breakfast, which had very limited choices and they ran out of lots of stuff on the busy weekend day.
