“Great Hotel”
Hotel directly acroos the street from the Hot Springs. Very clean room. Friendly Staff. My room looked down on the yampa river.
“Great place to stay”
This was my first time at this motel, giving a non-chain motel a chance. It was a great experience despite the hokey name. Turns out the name comes from the Rabbit Ears mountain pass you travel through to get to Steamboat. Motel seems to be recently remodeled, rooms were nice and clean, operated by a family. Mountain stream behind two of the buildings was scenic. Location was great for four reasons. 1 -- right next to the bus route (free to/from Steamboat resort for downhill skiing, about every 10-20 minutes), 2 -- right across the street from the Old Town Springs (community outdoor spring/pools), 3 -- close to walk to restaurants and bars downtown, and 4 -- cheaper than near the resort. Howelsen Hill is also downtown (Olympic evenrs / ski jumps). If you are in Steamboat, I'd also suggest going to Strawberry Park hot springs (a highlight of our trip). It is in a natural setting (bring flip-flops) whereas Old Town is more like a water park. Must have 4WD if snowy. If not snowy, the road is unpaved (mud/gravel) and full of pot-holes. Only downside of the motel was the railroad behind the motel. It was a ways away though. I never noticed it at night, maybe 2-3 trains all day so it in very minor. Definitely would go back.
“Affordable lodging for Steamboat skiers”
If you're headed to Steamboat Springs, CO to avail yourself of the excellent powder skiing, try the Rabbit Ears motel. Located next to the bus stop, it's a convenient free ride away from the mountain. Across the street from the hot springs that gave the town its name, it's also a short walk to the downtown bars and restaurants. Good choice for budget-minded skiers, and the rooms come with a refrigerator and breakfast.
“Great Neon Sign”
This place is worth the stay just for the neon sign out front. The room was spacious and comfortable enough. I was on a ski trip and it was durable enough to handle some melting snow and has a front area for ski storage. This is not a luxury hotel or condo, but for the price it definitely gets the job done. There is also a shuttle bus stop right next to the hotel for getting to the mountain. Just leave the room with your gear, walk to the bus, and you are on your way. The hotel is right at the beginning of the downtown area, which has great shops, restaurants, and is just nice to walk around. So, at the end of the day, you can get a hot shower, then have a night on the town.
“Our favorite place.”
The Rabbit Ears Motel is a charming throw-back to years gone by. Many of the rooms have been upgraded. The included breakfast is a definite plus. We used the free shuttle to get to the mountain, and the hot springs at the Rec Center across the road.
“Great place to stay in Steamboat”
Everything was just as good on our second stay as it was on the first. Be sure and ask for a room in the back....they are just off the Yampa river..... a beautiful, clear stream about 30 yards wide with trees all along the bank. All this can be seen from the balcony in your room. Walking distance from many good restaurants and shops.
“Great value right on the Yampa River”
This hotel is a great value right on the Yampa River. Right across from hot springs and within a few blocks of restaurants/shops. Breakfast is quite small, but free so can't complain. If you like fly fishing, this place can't be beat.
“The Rabbit Ears Motel is a fine place to stay!”
The Rabbit Ears Motel had very friendly staff, clean room and a good Continental breakfast. They were also welcomed our dogs and provided a place for them to run and bags for cleaning up after them. We were happy with our stay there.
“very good inexpensive motel”
Friendly folks run the Rabbit Ears. Location is great in Steamboat Springs - on the main drag but my room was quiet. The river ran outside my patio. Very nice. Everything worked well. Great cycling holiday.
“Satisfactory”
It was a good motel for two nights in a very convenient location. The heating system could be improved for winter weather.
