After driving for 5 hours it is very convenient to leave the motorway and within 200m leave the rush of traffic and park my car. After that train travel, the train a 3 minute walk then a no fuss no stress ride to central Auckland.
The hotel offers space in my booked room, a comfortable bed, I know that because I slept for 6 hours. The restaurant offers a range of food, both self service or from a menu. I prefer the self service as my food choices are mine and my quantities.
By now I would rate myself as a regular customer of the IBIS hotel at Greenlane in Auckland. My original and still a major reason for choosing the IBIS is the ease of access from the Auckland southern motorway. As a NZ Gold card holder I get free travel on the commuter train that takes me to the centre of the city. The train station is real close. The hotel rooms are clean rooms and have comfortable beds. The in house dining facility offers a good variety of evening meals, a good cook for steak, delicious. Breakfast for myself is the continental and there is a good selection to choose from, at least for my tastes. I do appreciate the friendly staff from the front desk to the dining room and all others. Staff members accept that I do not drink alcohol, that is a plus for me.
The place is nestled behind a dilipated apartment building, but no worries the hotel is well maintained outside and in. High ceilings and sleek architecture with modern decorating make this place comfortable and practical with a hint of boutique ness.
I was able to park my car in the lot, which is a tad tight, hours before checking in which was super convenient. Check in and out was a breeze as well. Since I didn't have the correct plug adaptor for phone, the staff found an adaptor for me to borrow.
Overall, the stay was lovely and would recommend for a good night sleep.
