The hotel is across the bridge from the Edinburgh's old town which give you great view of the city. It is right next to the main train station and GBP 20 taxi ride from the Edinburgh's airport. From the hotel you can pretty much walk to the main attractions.
The hotel was beautiful with nice pool/fitness center. It has really nice bar to tastes whisky and restaurant (Number One) was excellent.
Room (we stayed in cheapest room) was large, clean and comfortable. Bathroom was also large with extra mirror for my wife to do makeup, etc.
We stayed for four night in a delux double room. Turned out to be a loft type room with fantastic views of the city, castle and river. Staff were always helpful with tourist type questions or anything for that matter. We ate out a lot and found the best value for money to be Pep and Fodder for breakfast each day (turn right at the hotel exit and it is about 4 shops down on the same side of the street) a good breakfast for two was just over 10 pound, excellent daytime eatery. We also had a couple of dinners at Martone - on the corner just down from the Pep and Fodder. Again you can get good meals for two from between 20 and 30 pound. Both breakfast and dinner costs included drinks. Although the hotel menu looked good, for a longer stay it could be expensive. One tip: you have to try the raspberry, mascarpone and balsamic ice cream from Martone, it is heaven.
Location perfect, central but quiet; staff perfect, friendly, efficient, patient; room almost perfect, large enough but would have been great if slightly bigger; cleanliness perfect, spot-on in every respect; bed almost perfect, again slightly larger for a double room would have been better but nothing to complain about; good excellent, breakfast superb, early bird budget dinner in the restaurant also excellent. Thank you so much, you'll be our first choice when we return!
Great location and within easy walk of the train station. I was able to leave my case as it was too early to check in. When I returned later in the afternoon my case had already been taken to my room. Nice touch! I was in the Dublin room which was roomy and comfortable. Nice bathroom with lovely toiletries and I eventually worked out how to use the lights!! Very comfy bed and great food. All the staff were very friendly, especially the receptionist who was on the morning I left. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will stay there again.

We liked our first three nights at the Royal British Hotel that we returned there two weeks later for the end of our stay! The hotel is directly across from Waverly train station, the tram and bus routes. It is a quick walk to the Royal Mile. Although the hotel itself shows it's age, our small room had been updated and had everything we needed. One real plus was the entire staff! All were kind, helpful and friendly. We will stay here again on our next visit!
Everyone was very pleasant from checking to checking out after a very enjoyable stay. Clean and attention to detail and for what they say is a budget hotel one of the best I have stayed in, would recommend it to anyone, would be nice to have something hot to eat for breakfast if at all possible, pub round to corner doing a roaring trade because of a hot breakfast from 10am.

Hotel Indigo is an excellent hotel overall. The staff are very helpful. The location is great as pretty much all the best stuff in Edinburgh is within 10 minute walk, else buses and trams stop straight outside. The rooms are modern and airy with plenty space, great bed and shower. Complimentary mini bar is a bonus you don't usually see. Breakfast is excellent with both continental and Scottish options. Nice bar, could maybe do with more draft options, but staff were always attentive. Would certainly use again!
