Came to stay for 3 nights from York, found the hotel staff welcoming and helpful, very nice having someone take our heavy bags up to our room whilst we had a drink.
Our room was fantastic and clean, had everything we could possibly want. It had a well appointed and clean bathroom which was a pleasure to use. Comfortable bed, but please, please, get rid of those extra cushions that just take up room!
Had room service on the last day that arrived precisely when it was supposed to, overall a very enjoyable stay in a very wonderful city.
a warm greeting and a welcoming smile immediately on entering the hotel, reception professional and again very friendly informing us of hotel facilities, our luggage taken to a pristine clean room, I think the logistics of preparing and serving all hotel guests in the breakfast lounge could be a nightmare but i found it to be run like a tight ship the staff very much aware of our needs ,finally i found it necessary to have access to my luggage which was being stored until ready to leave and found again the porters very accommodating, nothing was a trouble to them.
We liked our first three nights at the Royal British Hotel that we returned there two weeks later for the end of our stay! The hotel is directly across from Waverly train station, the tram and bus routes. It is a quick walk to the Royal Mile. Although the hotel itself shows it's age, our small room had been updated and had everything we needed. One real plus was the entire staff! All were kind, helpful and friendly. We will stay here again on our next visit!
This is a lovely building, full of character and very homely. Inside every room I saw was nicely decorated. We booked a double and were given a lovely room on the fouth floor overlooking Princes Street. The room was clean and comfortable, and the window curtains and swags were high quality which added character to the room. The bathroom had nicely tiled floor and walls, with marble vanity top and bath panel. Breakfast was a buffet with a full range for the cooked option, including Haggis if you wanted it.
We ate in the restaurant on two evenings. It was ok but nothing special, and has a very limited choice which isn't changed from day to day. Slightly expensive; but perhaps not for the center of Edinburgh.
Hotel Indigo is an excellent hotel overall. The staff are very helpful. The location is great as pretty much all the best stuff in Edinburgh is within 10 minute walk, else buses and trams stop straight outside. The rooms are modern and airy with plenty space, great bed and shower. Complimentary mini bar is a bonus you don't usually see. Breakfast is excellent with both continental and Scottish options. Nice bar, could maybe do with more draft options, but staff were always attentive. Would certainly use again!
