Various factors about City Suites Edinburgh could seem bad, but overall I felt it was actually great.
The "bad points" and why they're not so bad really:
It's not city centre, but doesn't claim to be - its in a dockland developement in Leith, which may appear an odd choice for an Edinburgh stay, but the bus stops outside the block, there are handy facilities and (from our penthouse rooms) absolutely unbeatable views across all of the best bits of Edinburgh, the Forth and beyond
The flat appears a little dated and possibly abused by previous occupants, but it was clean, comfortable, well equipped and spacious.
The check-in process didn't work out quite as suggested, but all went smothly after a brief wait for the staff to appear after a phone call to an off-site office.
Some details like whether parking was free or not were confusing, but for us it turned out to be free in a secure car park - something which had partly prompted our choice of location out of the city centre was the cost of parking a mostly unused car during our stay
In short, a few cosmetic and admin issues were far outweighed by the location, facilities and ultimately the cost.
If I return to Edinburgh, this place will be my first choice to try
Booked a three night stay in a triple room located on the ground floor which was nice and quiet.
Checked in by Rohan who was very friendly and then during our stay Kenny was very helpful with any questions.
Once a seaport town, Leith was incorporated into Edinburgh in 1920 amidst controversy and maintains its own identity. Leith Walk connects the city with its primary port where the Water of Leith feeds into the Firth of Forth. Visitors can tour the Britannia, which for 44 years was the Royal Family’s private yacht. Golfers may want to stop at Leith Links where the rules of the game were devised in 1744.
