“Planning for next year already!!”
GR Solaris was a great resort! I would recommend it to anyone!! The staff was very friendly. The hotel was very clean. The food was very good. There are four different places to eat and room service is a must! There is a lot to do at the resort. Games by the pool everyday with prizes, fun for all ages. The ocean is at your doorstep with beautifully combed beaches! Be sure to utilize the bus system when leaving the resort, the cost is $1.00 USD per person. The hotel also offers an excursion expert and they have great deals if you book an excursion two days in advance. We did the Isla Mujeres excursion and it was great! The only negative thing I could say about the hotel is that the bed was not very comfortable, but with all the fun things you'll do throughout the day you will be so tired it won't matter! Enjoy your trip!
“Great Place! We will be going back!”
I read the reviews about this resort and was braced for the endless time share pitch. It never happened once. The service was outstanding and the staff could not have been any more attentive. The food was above average with the exception of the Marco Polo restaurant. A few of the reviews I read said it was the only place with good food. Our experience at the Marco Polo restaurant left something to be desired and we never went back to it. Other than that we loved every minute of our time there.
“Already planning to go back!”
Great value. Went with my hubby; we never visited Mexico before. Hotel staff was pleasant and informative and spoke great English. Food was great, always avail; lots of healthier options. Not much steak or grilled chicken was avail. Plenty if activities from 10am until 4pm. Nightly shows too after dinner. The crowd was mainly late 20's,30's, 40's. Not too wild but entertaining and seemed to be repeat guests. Drinks were watered down. It was annoying to drink 3 or 4 margaritas and have them go down like water/sour mix.also, ignore the hotel management that want to sell you timeshares. Through your stay, you'll hear "it's free". Remember nothing is free so dont waste your time. This resort was middle of the road, clean, close to the airport, nicely staffed and offers a lot to do. I'm going back next year with a group of friends.
“The Best”
Yes!
“Consierge means timeshare”
Hotel was clean and right away upon arriving the staff was very friendly. The staff was awesome the whole time. My only real negative was the so called Consierge. As soon as I arrived I was counseled about the hotel. I was told that the all inclusive included a couple special functions and two complimentary massages because it was the 25th anniversary. This was not the case it was all a timeshare scheme. Was constantly asked, when i was leaving the hotel, where I was going and if I talked or bought anything from the airport people. Was I being picked up by the other timeshare people? Avoid the Consierge if you can.
“Had a Great Time”
This was our second time to Cancun, first to the GR Solaris. This hotel was great except for a few things. The food was not very good. Mexican night was fantastic and breakfast was very good, but lunch seemed like a bunch of random things thrown together for a strange buffet combo. We ate at Marco Polo one night and my food was fantastic but my husband's was terrible. It was also a little smaller than we would have liked, which limited the night-time activities. The best thing- the SERVICE was GREAT! With the exception of one bartender, everyone was always smiling and helpful (no matter the color of your bracelet or whether or not you tipped). We did tip several people, but not initially, so I can say that the service was not based on that. Make sure to visit Kevin at the swim up bar!
“Beautiful, can't wait to go back”
Very nice FAMILY hotel if you are looking for a "honey moon" type this may not be your hotel, may not be the best hotel in Cancun but a lot for your money, the property is nice and the location is just perfect also the entertainment crew is amazing. A few tips: 1. Make sure to make reservations to the MARCO POLO restaurant food is great ( by the way NO EXTRA CHARGE but be nice and tip a few bucks). 2.If you are looking for souvenirs go to the MARKET 28 you can get the same stuff for 90% less ask the counsier for directions is only 15 minutes bus ride and the public transportation is only 8 pesos. 3. Make sure to exchange your currency ( the hotel has an exchange service and is very competitive ) and also get familiar with the PESO, if you carry Dlls or Euros they will get you every time with the change and they will take it for 15-20% less, if you end up with extra pesos you can buy your currency back from the hotel. 4. When out in the street if you speak Spanish make the best of it, ask for prices in pesos, a taxi should never charge more then 150 pesos ( if you ask in dlls they may try to charge you $40.00 = 539.20 pesos ). 5. If you are looking for a night out the Coco Bongo is the place to go, this club is a little expensive but an experience you will never forget. 6. XCARET is an a beautiful park but expensive, if you decide to go make sure you try the SEA TREK just short of scuba with out the hassle, also the under ground river is beautiful.
“Thanksgiving Break”
My partner and I loved the hotel. The staff was nice and helpful and the food was pretty good. We only saw one show and it was very good. The hotel is in a safe area but far from downtown Cancun. The bus stop was near the hotel and it took us 15-20 minutes to reach downtown. The bus only cost 55 cents (USD) and was very safe and came often. The only downside is that the hotel tries to make you see a time share presentation. We informed them that we were not interested and they did not ask again. Overall it was a great experience
“Would stay there again”
Pretty loud during the day. Always somebody on the PA trying to get people to participate in one or another activities. They did have an Adults Only section that was quieter. Nice overall. I would stay there again. Food was good. Had one night in the Marco Polo room where we were ignored, but other nights were fine. Good food and servce overall. Walls in the rooms were a bit thin and if someone slammed a door nearby, the wall would shake.
“hmmm”
hmmmmmm
