“Good standard and location”
The hotel itself was what you would expect from a 4 star, clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the location of the hotel was excellent, within walking distance of many attractions and two underground stations.
“Highly recommend!!!”
i had a great time, good experience but i was disappointed that the breakfast wasn't included!!!
“Excellent - location and cleanliness”
I was very impressed by this hotel. I turned up after an early flight - they were accommodating, took my luggage, and when I returned later had already put it in my room for my convenience. The room was sparklingly clean and of a very good size. Hotel staff were helpful with all my requests, getting me an extra pillow, even printing out directions for me, and there was free (if rather slow/old!) internet on computers in the lounge, which helped me with my plans immeasurably. My room was freshly made up each day and the standard of cleanliness was very high. The location was also fantastic - right by a tube stop, a short walk from the centre of town and with coffee places and restaurants nearby. I would stay here again very happily. My only quibbles (being English) are that there was no kettle in the room to make tea and that they could not provide a double duvet, but two singles. I think this may be a European thing?
“how much for water?”
the hotel location was great. forget the expensive breakfast, and opt for the coffee point round the corner towards C. Charlie. Free internet access in the lobby was very useful Dont drink the water in the room unless you want to pay lots for it!
“Great Location”
All tourist attractions were within walking distance and public transit was close for those that weren't. Neighbourhood seemed a little dark at night but did not have any problems at all. Would be nice if hotel had more of a restaurant however there were quite a few cafes in the area.
“Central location, clean and good value”
We stayed here last weekend with a group of 10 people. The hotel is in a perfect central location in Mitte. Very near to Checkpoint Charlie, the Wall and shops. Not too far to travel for bars and restaurants too and the U-Bahn it at the end of the road if you do not feel like walking too far. The rooms were spotless and very well equipt. The only downfall was the unfortable pillows, no more than a large square filled with air and not much else! but I was told there are common in Germany. We had the breakfast on one of the days and it was more than substantial and good value for a city hotel. Staff are helpfull, maps of the city are available in reception as it free internet access. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a short stay in Berlin.
“Great Experience”
My stay at this hotel was excellent. The hotel is very well located, near Checkpoint Charlie and there is a subway station very close to the hotel, in case you want to use it. Hotel condition is spotless and the staff is very polite. Rooms are very cozy and clean and the amenities provided make you feel really comfortable. There is a very high probability I'll stay there again when I go to Berlin again.
“Good Hotel in Berlin”
The hotel Angleterre was clean and very well situated near Checkpoint Charlie and within easy walking distance of the remaining section of the wall. Underground and tour bus were within 100 meters of the hotel. There were a number of excellent cafe's and bars close by to have breakfast and a lot cheaper than the hotel. One point to note, the main tour bus (yellow) starts at 10:00 an finishes at 16:00 some of the others at half the price run longer so if you want to travel around in the evening best to check.
“Convenient and descent”
All in all very satisfying except for 1 point: The room had not been cleaned before 5pm (2 of the 4 days of our stay). When we asked "why" they apologised by saying that there was only 1 person for 28 rooms and thus she had too much work to do. Of course, after that it was cleaned immediately, but I do not think that it is a nice excuse to be heard for the reputation of the hotel.
“Berlin - We'll be back!”
The hotel room was clean and spacious with a safe and TV with BBC News available. The only downsides were that the double bed was effectively two single beds pushed together and on one morning we struggled to obtain hot water. The hotel staff and service were excellent - friendly, helpful and efficient and with a good knowledge of English. They were a credit to their team. The hotel was in an excellent location (close to two U bahn stops on the U5/6 line Kochstrasse arguably closest) and with ample access to restaurants and cafes. Try the Paracas at 12 Friedrichstrasse about 5 minutes walk away. There is a McDonalds (for those who need that) just by Checkpoint Charlie (by teh U-bahn) and a supermarket just by Hallesches Tor. The overall area/neighbourhood is not the most salubrious but you would have to be quite picky to really worry about that. If you are into the art (as we are) you would do well to buy the 3 day museum pass which gets you into a large range of museums and galleries and saves you a fortune as once purchased it provides free access.
