“Hilton Basel - Great Place to Stay”

We were in Basel from Friday to Sunday in August. The Hilton Basel was an excellent choice. It is hard to imagine a better buy for the money. The hotel is close to the central train station, the staff are very helpful and the room we had was comfortable. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet that came with the Expedia deal, particularly since eating, along with everything else, can be pricey even in ordinary times for the Swiss Franc (which August 2011 was not!). The pass from the hotel gave us free access to the tram system, which is extensive and convenient. This was particularly helpful since Basel's old section is a must see - kids will love the Tinguely Fountain - and basel is a city of museums. We also had religious needs, which the staff went out of their way to satisfy. So, we will definitely recommend this hotel to friends.

“Excellent base for sightseeing”

The hotel is ideally placed for sightseeing in Basel as it is only a short and comfortable walk to the centre of Basel, the Rhine and Basel old town. It is also close to various tram stops for different routes as well as the train station and the stop for the airport bus. In other words, we could not have found a more suitable location for our needs. The service and breakfast were exactly as you would expect from a 5 star hotel. The room was very comfortable and quiet. We certainly plan to return!

Area recommendations

Basel old town by taking the signposted walks. A cruise on the river Rhine. A trip across the Rhine on one of the old wire-drawn ferry boats. A visit to the Munster. Basel City Hall and the atmosphere of Marktplatz.

Getting around

Basel is quite small so the best way to see it is to walk and walk and walk! Stout shoes may be required for some of the hilly parts of the old town. There are also some steep steps in the signposted old town walks. Take a tram. They are clean, fast and free to tourists as hotels provide a "mobility pass" for the duration of the stay.

“Beautiful hotel in a beautiful city”

Lovely hotel ! The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful.Late morning construction noise inside the hotel was annoying but I presume doesn"t happen on a regular basis.

“Non vedo l'ora di tornarci”

ottima posizione(la fermata dei tram e dei bus è a pochi passi), staff gentilissimo e disponibile, colazione strepitosa , la presenza della piscina e del centro benessere (sauna, bagni turco ecc.) trasforma un soggiorno culturale in una vera vacanza relax

“Prima hotel in Basel”

Prima hotel, 2 kamers geboekt. Bij inchecken kregen we 2 kamers naast elkaar met tussendeur. Wel zo prettig met kinderen. Restaurant was overvol (Valentijnsdag), maar zonder reservering werd er een tafel voor ons geregeld

“Esta muy cerca de la estación del tren si viajas por este medio es muy recomendable este hotel”

Si vienes en tren caminando llegas al hotel y afuera hay tranvìas en los que llegas al centro en 5 minutos, tiene camas muy pequeñas como en la mayorìa en Europa
