“needs refurbishment”
The hotel does not live up to the Radisson Blus I had visited elsewhere. The hotel includes rooms combined between several connected buildings, long winding hallways, old not recently renovated parts with awkward stale smell, small windows overlooking roofs. I had to insist to get a more decent room and the hotel management was helpful.
“good place in basel”
I've stayed here for work reasons on alot of occasions, I try to stay here as it has a swimming pool and a reasonable (though small) gym neither of which are usually busy. This is the first time i've stayed for pleasure. The rooms and hotel are little oriented towards business travellers, though my wife thought the room was lovely and comfortable. We didn't spend any money in the hotel as it's too expensive unless your work are paying - breakfast is 31 CHF per person for example, we bought some cheese and ham etc and kept it in the in-room fridge and had that for breakfast with coffee/tea made on the in-room kettle (you may want to buy some milk from the supermarket too). The hotel is well located, a short walk (2 or 3 minutes) to barfusserplatz.
“Great Basel hotel and location”
Radison Blu Basel Hotel has a very good location and excellent staff - efficient, friendly and helpful. Hotel was very clean and well furnished. Free travel pass was a nice touch - able to travel to and from airport, free of charge and use on all trams and buses in city. The No 10 (yellow tram) stops right outside hotel and it is only about 5 stops to/from railway station / airport bus stop. Basel was a great tourist destination and hotel is within easy walking distance, or you can use frequent trams directly from hotel, to all major sites and shopping/dining.
“Good all-round hotel”
Room was available much earlier than we expected, at 10.00 a.m. Clean, bright, comfortable. Restaurant a little pricey but very good food. Indoor swimming pool excellent. The Mobility Ticket (i.e. free pass) for buses and trams was an unexpected bonus, for city centre transport and link to the airport. No 10 tram connects to the railway station and the airport bus terminus.
“OK but could be better”
Nothing terribly wrong with the hotel. Decent location on the edge of the old town, and the rooms are comfortable enough. But a lot of minor quibbles which overall leave one feeling less than totally satisfied. The "modernist" furniture looks spartan and dated, and whilst some people won't mind them I cannot get used to bathrooms with transparent glass doors - these are supposed to be "private" facilities. For a busy hotel the reception was often under-staffed, and we had to ask them twice to put right a minor defect in the room. Moreover, being a business hotel, the place lacks any character, and the independent traveller is just a number. The breakfast is good but (because this is a business hotel) not included in the room rate, and although we knew this when we booked it still grates. No doubt fine (if absolutely standard) for business conferences, but independent travellers might do better elsewhere.

Das Hotel ist vor kurzem renoviert worden und modern eingerichtet. Die Standard-Zimmer sind für 4 Sterne sehr klein. Ebenfalls die Bäder. Es fehlen Ablagemöglichkeiten für Bad-Utensilien. Die Zimmer sind sauber bis auf ein paar Staubflusen in den Ecken und freundlich und hell eingerichtet. Das Personal ist besonders aufmerksam und hilfsbereit.
