I have a mixed review of the Bartley Lodge. It is on beautiful grounds and was one of the few hotels in the area with a (small) pool. We arrived early, and even though our room wasn't ready, they let us walk the grounds and use the pool, which was amazing. Our room was incredibly hot (granted it was during a heatwave, but our room was hotter than the hallway or anywhere else in the hotel). There was an A.C. unit in the room, but it was broken. The other complaint was about the toilet, which was very touchy about flushing. We called down to the front desk 3 times before someone came up to look at it. This employee was able to get it to flush, but mentioned that he gets complaints about the toilet often. We were only able to get it to flush occasionally and joked that you had to have the magic touch. The swimming pool was a lifesaver as was the grounds and gardens. It is a beautiful hotel, and we had good and not so good service there, so it definitely is a mixed review. I would probably recommend it with a few stipulations.

St. Michael's hotel and spa was very clean and beautiful inside. We had a lovely lunch and then went to look around the facilities. We were disappointed that the spa facilities were not included in the price of our stay. At £40 pp it was too expensive. The staff were really friendly and helpful and always had a smile on their faces. The food at lunch and dinner was very nice but I was surprised that you had to pay extra for your vegetables. Normally they would be included in your meal. Breakfast was very nice and there was a lot of choice. Our room was disappointing because we were put in a separate house to the main hotel. It was an old building and our room had a cot in it that took up too much space and you couldn't move. We had to dismantle it ourselves. There wasn't much room. On one side of the bed at all so it was difficult to get in and out. The room was also cold and damp and it smelt damp. We had to put the heater on and as we did the TV and mirrors steamed up ! Our room phone didn't work and the radio didn't work. So we couldn't call reception to book a meal in the sink hotel.

This was a beautiful hotel to spend a night and catch up with a friend. I am sorry I didn’t have time to explore the grounds and surrounding countryside. Everything was clean and the staff were efficient and friendly. Our only negative was that the night clashed with a huge wedding party and we were asked to move from the terrace which was the only warm place to sit outside on a beautiful Summer evening. This was the night before not the day of the wedding! None of the wedding guests were using the terrace either which was the upsetting thing.

Room was good, clean & well presented except towel rail did not heat so towels did not dry. 3 night stay with damp towels that were not replaced despite being left on shower floor. Reatuarant service non existent, used first evening t hen not again as so awful.

The whole of the place said disaster to us. The staff were very rude. They also didn’t even give a smile. The cleaning of the room was absolutely terrible. The inside of the cupboards where you put your clothes were all drips of coffee the pigeons you couldn’t open the window as they were just sat outside watching when we asked for help nobody seemed to have a clue what was going on. I am totally disappointed in the whole of the hotel itself. The pigeons were eaten off the table in the bistro. The pool was out of order. The lift was not working and nobody seemed to give a damn about anything the pool outside the actual covers that they gave you to sit on was full of human poo they were absolutely filthy. I just don’t know what to say about this hotel but I feel as though I have wasted my my whole money was hotel I have ever stayed in in my life.

Beautiful little getaway cabin, peaceful and perfect. Staff on check in were polite and accommodating. Clean cabin with everything you need.

The hotel was in a great location. We were a group of 7 Gentlemen Golfers and we stayed in the Hotel for 4 nights. The staff were brilliant, the breakfast was hearty and filling. We enjoyed "chilling" in the indoor swimming pool. Although we did not have a dog with us, it may be helpful to know that the hotel is dog friendly. The gardens of the hotel were exceptional, and you walked through them for easy access to the beach and Town. I would recommend a stay at the Cliffden hotel.
