"Don’t get fooled by the photos on Expedia. Rooms are spacious( I booked three 2-queen size rooms) and clean. Has complimentary breakfast buffet with Taiwanese and Western options. "
"huge, old-school, noisy, package-tour oriented hotel. felt like a throw back to a bye-gone age. Average food served in shifts. (However, nice Balinese restaurant trainees made us feel welcome). "
"Favorite Bed and Breakfast in Alishan - we are living among the clouds - such a joy.
The breakfast balcony is so beautiful and the staff are so kind.
Highly recommend to all going to Alishan"
"best location, good breakfast, clean, good services, very helpful to visit the surrounding areas, not easy to get public transportation without own car, best view of the tea plantation."
"The room was really dirty, dust everywhere, stains, very old bathroom wirh rackets that had rust stains. Breakfast cold, worst stay we had during our road trip"
"From the property, you can see the beautiful Alishan famous sunrise. The front yard is very beautiful and well maintained where guests can completely relax and enjoy the mountain view. We highly recommend staying at the First Sun bed and breakfast."
"I loved our family room with the loft; very clean and cozy and we had our own balcony with a beautiful view of the tea plantation. The hot pot restaurant was amazing with delicious fresh veggies and was a lovely way to end the day after hiking in the misty forest. The view of sunset from the hot pot restaurant was absolutely stunning! My only reservation would be for elderly travelers as there are stairs and some steep pathways- they would need some assistance with luggage and walking....

"This was a really great experience! Just a 5 minute walk up and down the hill from the bus stop, this stay has it's own vegetable garden, great views of the tea fields, trail access, and beautiful points to watch the sunrise and set. The staff were very helpful, spoke English, and helped plan a day trip for you, especially helping figure out public transit. The hot pot dinner (extra cost though very reasonable) was delicious and the breakfast (included) was also very yummy. Highly recommend staying here!"
"The thermal spas are amazing. Although the outdoor one for us was closed for the two days for cleaning. Overall the hotel outside of the thermal spas is very dated and not the cleanest. we had some holes in linen and it was all a bit grimy. The staff were lovely and the food was great. "
"For travelers seeking an “authentic” Alishan experience, this local hostel offers a great deal. It lacks many of the amenities that tourists accustomed to Western lodgings will miss, but it is well-situated in the small township of Longtouping and is a great value for the area. Longtouping is on the bus route to Alishan national recreation area, about an hour further up the mountains. It is close to Shizhuo to the north, where you’ll find restaurants and tea shops, and Eryanping to the south, where a worthwhile trail begins.
Our room was spacious as was the bathroom. The only less than ideal feature were the mattresses, which we found too hard; they also sat right on the wooden floor.
The includes breakfast buffet was excellent and featured unique (and delicious) items such as steamed oolong bread and oolong tea baked bread. The proprietors were friendly and extremely helpful with suggestions.
We managed our visit without a car, although we did hire a taxi for a full day of touring to Fenqihu, Shizhuo, and other sights. "
