Yaiza is a town in the province of Las Palmas, to the south of the island of Lanzarote. It was here where, in 1402, the first European settlement of the Canary Islands was founded, marking the beginning of the so-called “Conquest of the Archipelago”. Discover the history and natural heritage of the region with our cheap trips to Yaiza.
You can start by visiting the Charco Verde, a lagoon named after the greenish colour of its waters. This is because of the presence of a type of algae that lives there, as well as the sulphur contained in the waters. The lagoon is located on a beach so you’ll want to go for a refreshing dip and enjoy everything a holiday in paradise like this has to offer.
At sunset, head over to Los Hervideros, just 1.25 miles away. This stretch of cliffs was first formed by volcanic eruptions in the 18th century; sea erosion did the rest. On days when the sea is particularly rough, the waves hit the rocks and you can enjoy a spectacle of nature you’ll never forget.
If you’d like to see an example of traditional architecture in Lanzarote, visit the Benito Pérez Armas cultural estate; he was a famous writer and politician on the island. Another noteworthy building is the Castle of Las Coloradas, built in 1741 to defend the area from attacks by Privateers. Its circular floor plan and stone construction make it a good example of military architecture.
If you like religious buildings, Nuestra Señora de los Remedios is must-see, a small but interesting church in the Mudéjar style. Don't miss the main altarpiece. Our package deals to Yaiza really have it all!
To get to Yaiza, fly to Lanzarote airport, which is twenty minutes away by car. You can take a taxi or hire a car to get around at your own pace. What are you waiting for? Choose one of our deals on trips to Yaiza now!

It was good to be able to do aqua gym class in the covered heated pool - as the main pool was rather chilly (as expected in mid-March - to be fair!)
