"The rooms were clean but there was no housekeeping available during the three nights of our stay. We had to ask for more milk and tea which was not a problem. No breakfast was available, but dinner was. This was of good quality for the price. The rooms are slightly tired, but probably suffering from lack of use during Covid restrictions. "Erm good and bad points. Me and my partner spontaneously wanted to get away for a night and drove the motorbike straight here arriving after 10pm. In the booking details at the time of booking it does not clarify that the hotel DOES NOT allow check in after 10pm. However there was a helpful gentleman on site that luckily helped us check in without any additional charges too! He made us very welcome, explained the security on the main door, WiFi and gave us an out of hours contact number if we needed. This made us feel comfortable for our stay. Tea and coffee making facilities in room - Yes but basic. No lift for the stairs. For the price it’s a bed for the night. Can’t complain about that. Comfy bed and pillows. Very strange bathroom. Toilet seat didn’t stay open properly, carpeted half way through, the shower water was barely warm - the bathroom sink had hotter water in it. In need of a bed to sleep in with water and a toilet. For the price. Wasn’t terrible"

"Swift arrival formalities. Courteous, cheerful and helpful staff in all parts of the hotel, including those seeing to the bedrooms. The food was excellent, both dinner and breakfast, Good parking arrangements, Departure was as swift and effortless as the arrival. It was in all aspects well up to the standard that we have come to expect from past visits. We'll be back!"

"We always stay at the Royal Hotel if we are in WSM for the night. In terms of being in a central location it can't be beaten. It's a traditional and spacious hotel. The staff always go above and beyond to assist you. It's a beautiful, old building. We had a twin room and the bathroom was larger than my living room. Wonderful sea views. I miss the view already! Very highly recommended. Haven't tried the food sadly but it looks delicious!"

"An extremely quick and friendly welcome and check in, especially as we arrived around 10:30pm after a busy day out and about. Room was large and welcoming, nicely decorated and with three large opening windows for us to control air to the room and a required temperature. Breakfast was self serve and there was a good enough choice and it was a great start / set up for the day. Cleaning wise, extra attention needs to be made to this as I awoke to find one of my pillows looked like it had been trodden on / or driven over due to a muddy mark on it, there were items of rubbish from previous guests under chairs - hair band, make up brush - a strange red liquid on tiles in the bathroom and where someone had spilt a hot drink on one of the walls next to our breakfast table, this had not been cleaned off."

"From the outside the property is beautiful. Our room was clean, and relatively comfortable. The bar lady ‘Liv’ was amazing, couldn’t do enough to keep the customers happy. The interior is very run down, it could do with being updated. The furniture in the beer garden was very tired and some chairs were not suitable to sit on. Our evening meal was lovely. In the morning the included continental breakfast consisted of 3 choices of cereal and bread for toast. There was only a few mismatched bowls on the table and a few spoons chucked next to them. The bread was just placed next to the toaster, there was melted butter in a bowl for all to use, the jam was also in a bowl. The coffee was loose in a bowl, some tea bags, and no sugar. The cooked breakfast that my husband had was really good. There was only the chef there and he came across quite rude when asked for sugar etc. I had my toast in a bowl as there was no plates. It really is a shame as it looked such a lovely place, it was by far the worst place we have stayed."
