"Quirky old building, so, some steep staircases. Unfortunately we arrived whilst they were doing some renovations, so, not everything was available. But the continental breakfast was good the next morning. The rooms were ok, we were lucky to get a river view (for free, if booked in advance that costs extra) quite a small twin room, en suite bathroom. Sadly no air con, we did have a small fan and left the patio doors open overnight. The bathroom was ok, the duty manager said they are all being refurbished over winter. Shower was average, not much pressure and took a couple of minutes ti figure out. They only had one small towel rail, so, I suggested to the manager about perhaps a couple of hooks on the back of the bathroom door. Then he says they are replacing over winter, so they won't add hooks yet. In the room there were tea and coffee making facilities, a small fridge, a desk, a small wardrobe with a safe inside and even an iron and ironing board. Sockets by the desk had USB sockets too. Overall nice. I think once the refurbishment is completed it will be cracking. There's also a bar with outdoor seating, as well as outdoor seating by the river. The hotel is next to a toll bridge which does cause queuing. £1.20 to cross over in a car. Parking is limited, first come first served. £10 for the whole stay, which is good value. I'd say there are perhaps15 spaces. You pay when you check out. The staff were nice. Ellie the duty manager was particularly lovely."

"The hotel is modern with nice large rooms. However it’s let down by a few things. One of the lifts was out of order. The others were perhaps the slowest I’ve ever been in. The hotel advertises parking. When I arrived I was told it was 5 min walk away. Not exactly on-site. There is actually parking behind the hotel, but it is all zoned off as 15min drop off zone! Madness. In the end I was able to park at the hotel as I have a disabled pass. Lots of people have mobility issues, without necessarily having a disabled pass. Don’t advertise parking in site when it’s not. It’s misleading. Once inside the hotel I put my keys and a grinder (for prescribed medical cannabis) on the counter whilst I checked in. I then was sharply “told off” by the receptionist “there’s no smoking in the rooms you know!” I had to correct her. 1. I don’t smoke. Medicinal cannabis has to be used via a medical vaporiser. 2. I was planning to use the vape unit whilst out of the room. 3. How dare she make assumptions and challenge me over this. She made an immediate assumption that I was smoking weed illegally. I was not. 4. The new 2026 police guidelines tell officers to approach cannabis users with the assumption that they are using it legally on prescription. Perhaps your staff should do the same. I don’t appreciate having to justify the use of a prescribed medication to your staff and to be treated like I’m a criminal."

"I had a lovely stay, enjoyed the spa and treatment room and the room service was great. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The only let down was the robes in the rooms have security tags on and they had holes in and were very grubby which kind of put a dampener on the 4* experience."

"we had booked a townhouse Suite for 5 adults consisting of 3 bedrooms. I had personally called up reservations to confirm availability and thereafter booked through Expedia within 5 minutes of my call. Full amount was paid at time of booking. we were however down graded to two individual rooms citing technical error in booking and amount adjusted . very unprofessional."
