We stayed in a "6 person" lakeside lodge. 2 couples and 2 babies. It was extremely cramped. Would strongly recommend a MAX of a couple with 2 kids.
The lodge itself was modern and nice. It appeared really clean but the hard floors were really dirty, not apparent immediately, but the babies clothes were filthy after 5 mins crawling. So much so we went to mop the floor. However the mop was dark brown and smelly, so may as well have used the muddy lake water.
The site is good. Great softplay and reasonable priced cafe. But it's only open during normal business hours.
Staff were cool, very friendly warden. Bright and happy, helpful reception staff. We had lots of problems with power cuts. 7 times over the 3 nights. Also the WiFi often disconnects and is veeeeery slow.
Terrible kitchen. Slow rubbish gas oven. Super slow gas hob American style whistling kettle was annoying. Very limited equipment for cooking.
Beds were hard, thin, lumpy and uncomfortable.
Site is very close (100-200m) to trainline, trains sound horn as they pass.
Annoying doors with old garden gate latches. Not a problem normally - but noisey if you have sleeping babies and keep coming open.
Hot tub was very very strong with chemicals. On day one, everyone came out super itchy. It left a white powder on my watch face. We used the garden hose to dilute it and was better thereafter.
