"Good hotel, few issues over the stay, mainly resolved. Not sure would stay again although good location and convenient parking main positives."

"We got an update and room was fab. Lovely decor and bathroom and shower excellent. Loved the wee touches like espresso machine and towel robes. Hotel staff amazing, especially the waiters in the restaurant. Gorgeous lounge, bar and library with lots of comfy seating and beautiful views over the grounds. Pool and sauna etc really great. Breakfast good. Meal in restaurant good. Cocktails good. Some negatives The temperature in the room was so high. Even with AC on all night and windows open as much as we could it was sweltering. Don’t think the AC was working. Beds were so hard and pillows not comfortable. Also duvets were synthetic and way too high a tog. So with this combination I didn’t get a good nights sleep. So, unfortunately this did take the shine off the weekend. Be wary of rooms around the 130 number - there was an unpleasant smell in the corridor, which a member of staff said was coming up from kitchen below, but it smelt like blocked drains."

"If you want a nice central stay, then this is one to consider. We had a couple of issues, which were resolved on the day. However, getting two bottles of sparkling water into the room seemed like a challenge, and being charged £16 for it felt like a lot, especially since they supplied only one bottle and charged for two, and the hotel already provides small bottles of still water. I was not expecting this to be charged, as I have experienced in other 5-star hotels."

"Lovely hotel. In a fantastic location right by the entrance of Yorkshire Wildlife Park. Worth paying the extra for a room at the back looking out over the Maned Wolves and Lar Gibbons. We loved watching the animals from our room. Beds were comfy, shower was great and the toiletries smelt lovely. Very friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely recommend and stay again. Was also a reasonable price unlike other zoo hotels which can cost £1000s. (We went midweek in September when the schools have gone back)."

"Meticulously clean, comfy bed, handy location. Staff were great, particularly Nat who was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast included was really nice and varied. Will stay again."

"Nice enough place with good clean rooms and a pleasant staff. Nature obscured our view of the river. Nicely situated within easy walking distance of central York. Breakfast was very disappointing as it consisted of plain croissants and machine coffee."
