"Located in the centre of town - a short walk from Barnard Castle itself, the magnificent Bowes Museum, local shops and bus services. Although the pub and restaurant were packed, the staff provided excellent, friendly and efficient service. Great menus for dinner and breakfast and the food itself was superb in every respect. Parking can be an issue - the hotel's own parking has very limited spaces and is some distance from the hotel itself although porterage was offered for baggage. Our room (4) was very comfortable, quiet, clean and peaceful - perhaps stronger bedside lighting for reading would have been useful. We very much enjoyed our stay and the hotel would be our first choice for our next trip to this beautiful area of Durham and Yorkshire."
