Quiet hotel on the ocean

Posted 27-Jul-2016
The Oak Bay Beach Hotel is nestled in a quiet neighbourhood on the ocean. The hotel is very quiet with not a lot of kids. The pools are beautifully set on the bay. You will swim meters away from seals that are frolicking in the ocean. The food is great. Rooms are new, but have an old world touch. Downtown is a 14 minute car ride.

Not exactly kid-friendly

Posted 26-Jul-2016
We got to the hotel at 3pm (check-in is 4pm) and room was not ready yet so we asked if we could go to the pool until the room was ready and were told that wasn't possible. After checking in, the pool concierge warned us the pool is part of the spa and there was no loudness permitted (so it was a bit stressful with two young children but it ended up being fine). The day of our departure we went to the pool at 8am (opens at 6:30am) and there were only used towels available - for a service-oriented hotel I was quite surprised at the lack of attention to such an obvious detail.

So beautiful! And peaceful here.

Posted 25-Jul-2016
Pros: Clean and luxurious
We enjoyed our stay for sure. Obviously we payed for the luxury but it's a beautiful place to stay at. We stopped here for out trip to Victoria Canada and stayed for two days. It was awesome to relax in the outside jacuzzi or warm pool after a day out, which were open I believe until 10pm. Also the room was very modern, clean and comfortable. free parking.

Not family friendly after all. Faulty advertiseme

Posted 20-Jul-2016
Hotel is very clean with exceptional foods. However, I was traveling with my young kids under 10. Swimming is the only thing for them to do. When using pool, you must be quiet and no splashing allowed. It's a SPA. WTH! It's kids . This hotel should be labeled. Retirement welcome, family with kids...GO AWAY. Personally, if you have kids. Don't booked here. Don't deserved high rating

Memorable experience in every way!

Posted 17-Jul-2016
Pros: Absolutely everything
Cons: Nothing
Location: Easy walk to restaurants and small Oak Bay towndown area with interesting shops, bistros and local flavor.
Spectacular views, beautiful room, exceptional staff. I can't say enough about this hotel. It is a short drive out of the hustle and bustle of Victoria, but well worth it! My room was so beautiful, and spacious. Everything about this facility is 5 star. I would highly recommend this hotel and would absolutely stay here again. The staff were all friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I didn't take advantage of the pool - darn me, didn't bring a bathing suit. The view from the pool area is breathtaking.

A quaint hotel in a beautiful area of Victoria.

Posted 13-Jul-2016
Pros: Everything! The rooms, the food, the service, the friendliness
Location: Golf course is very close.
The Oak Beach hotel is a fabulous place to get away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. It is about a 15-20 min. ride to the downtown area but for us it was well worth it. They do have a private limo to take you to the city for $15.00 each way. We did this once and it was lovely riding in a large Mercedes with our own driver pointing out some of the sites. The rooms were large and spacious, the beds comfortable and the views were great. The food in the dining room and the pub were very good. I recommend Oak Bay Beach to anyone visiting Victoria that doesn't require being right in the city.

Lovely, elegant

Posted 12-Jul-2016
My husband says this hotel has unpretentious elegance. We stayed at the original hotel 25 years ago during our honeymoon. We wanted to return for this special anniversary. We were delighted by the lovely replacement. We ate in the Pub and Kate's cafe. Both were good. We loved the views and enjoyed swimming in the mineral pool as we watched sailboats glide by. Though the room needed a couple of minors repairs, they were quick to take care of those details.

Great Stay

Posted 11-Jul-2016
This is a really nice hotel that is located in a quiet neighborhood with wonderful ocean views. The facilities are excellent, especially the pool and hot tubs that are located on the edge of the ocean. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The bed was extremely comfortable and room was very quiet. It is about a fifteen minute drive to downtown Victoria but if you take the road that winds along the ocean, there are no traffic lights (and way fewer crosswalks) and wonderful ocean views that wind through gorgeous homes. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel as long as you don't need walking distance to downtown Victoria.
